Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

pitts is overrated he a guy ppl fell in love with during draft process, he's ok but we want TEs who are actual TEs not soft guys afraid to block anybody always thought he made lil to no sense here

sorry.. I'm just against any TEs making so much money... Gonzo... Gates... and great TEs before them obviously couldn't be a factor of getting their teams to the Super Bowl....

While the Brent Jones and the Novacek won Super Bowls being just VERY GOOD ENOUGH type of players..

PLUS, I only see TEs as some kinda "security blanket " for the QBs.

i view TEs as taking a good discount for example, kittle is as much a factor as any WR in the NFL, grossly underpaid, the work in the pass and run game is insane,

kinda the same with CMC he catches 100+ balls but he's technically a RB so we save money, mid wrs out earn cmc it's all out of whack

Good god this would be a horrible deal IMO, both DMo and McKivitz are needed, idk who the hell replaces them and plays anywhere near their level now Brown wouldn't be missed also not sure why LV would do this deal anyway? They'd want a guaranteed 1st not a 2nd that can maybe become a 1st

Yeah we weren't gonna deal for him and give him a $18m a yr deal when we're paying Kittle $19.1m a yr makes no sense to put that kind of money into 2 TEs

I didn't want to take him seriously but yes...the idea of trading away 2 of our best players(yes I said it about McKivitz!) at arguably our weakest positions to add Crosby(great player but the injury concerns and salary are problematic for long term team building) is well...slap worthy imo.

Mayer btw has been a substantial disappointment. I wouldn't mind adding him and seeing if we can get him to play up to his draft status but not at the cost of decimating the team.
