If he can block Chris Jones for (only) half a second, he's already better than Barford

If he can stay on the field for at least two and a half quarters, he's already better than Bartch

Still throwing darts at the board for a serviceable LG so we're not going for a "can play LG for a year" type of OT.

We're not taking an OT in round 1 just to sit him for a year or two.

Only way we take an OT is if he's straight up replacing Trent and I'm not considering that right now.

DE/WR/DB are our first 3 picks imo, but not necessarily in that order.

Not likely to find a day one starter that low in the draft.

what is your suggestion?

Perhaps trade up is the only thing I see.

I went into the off season assuming if we traded Mac we'd be trying to move up in the first rather than hold the extra picks.

I guess the same could be true if we trade Trent or someone else. I don't see us moving up when we're already short of picks and still have holes to fill.

I don't like what I originally suggested as the plan, but based on what we're doing, and still doing, in FA it doesn't feel like a round 1 OL is the play.

Besides, those 3 4th round picks we have are screaming developmental OL, hope we hit Safety, and bench riding RB.

Hope I'm wrong. Like a lot of posters I've been on the OL train for a few seasons now.
Love the moves so far but we still haven't filled the biggest need. We need more edge rushers. Bosa and Williams both coming back from injury. Didn't bring back YGM or Cle. Don't really think we can afford to gamble on production from a rookie at the end of the 1st at best. Need to bring in Joey Bosa, Reddick, Clowney or someone.

You can guarantee they will be drafting a guy at 27. Let pray it's not another 1st round reach

Same.

Looks like it will be a patchwork Oline again this year.
(just has to be good enough I guess)

+ there is still time - I bet they add more OL/DL through the summer

I am guessing going DL again in the 1st.
Huff retired so something's gotta give. I highly doubt we won't sign at least one veteran edge even if it's someone like Floyd.

Yes they need to improve the pass rush but they also need to improve the run game. Whether that means getting more out of their backs or improving the line is a matter for discussion.

Leonard Floyd or Cam Jordan won't tax the pocket and they're still productive (one year rentals)

Everyone is happy with this off-season.....until we play the Seahawks and we realize again that our O-line is garbage against real competition. Then we complain about our O-line and demand a better unit for next season.......until they sign a receiver and a pass-rusher and everyone forgets again that the O-line is the main issue of this team.

We keep repeating the cycle over and over with this ringless regime.

I don't think anyone forgot about the issues at Oline. I've seen almost 99% of the posters on here want the oline to improve. Just because we're not crying about it 24/7 doesn't mean we don't want it to happen. Also add in we could cry in here 24/7 for the next 5 years, it would do absolutely nothing since it won't affect their decisions. If they want to address the Oline they will, its as simple as that. If they don't then we hope that it works out at the end. That being said we can be happy about the other issues this team has tried to improve this off season, which is why some are happy.
Yes, but fans have a right to express their frustrations. Afterall, fans are the ones that foot the bill. Team officials get asked questions from reporters, talk show hosts, streamers etc. where some well informed fans go to express their concerns.

Yes, fans have every right to express their frustrations, but his post seems to point to why we're happy about the off season and not showing frustration. Which I easily explained why were not showing frustrations and happy at times.
That's something else then. Me, the acquisitions are great!

O-line needs to be addressed or we'll end being destroyed along it in post-season.

I'd much rather rock with Cam Jordan than Floyd.Cam is a much better all around football player - he's older but still better than floyd. Edit: i just realized Cam had a 10.5 sack season last year. lol damn, impressive.

I think there is a big pause for teams and players right now because they want to see how the draft plays out before filling some holes, you never know who is going to fall to you.

I 100% agree that regardless of if we take a DE in the first - we need a quality veteran for the rotation. I think after the draft, a lot of these guys will start signing places. They dont want to think they're going to be a starter somewhere and then rug gets pulled out from under them cause a guy fell to a team and invested a first in him.

No one feels sorry for Kirk Cousins, cause he got paid, but players would like to avoid a situation like his - the team takes your replacement with their first round pick and screws up everything you had projected.

I loved: The Evans deal. This was one of the most team-friendly signings in this free agency period. With only $14 million guaranteed at signing and most of his 2027 and 2028 money tied into option bonuses, the 49ers are committed to Evans for only one season, which would be important should he look completely unplayable in his age-33 season. Far more likely, Evans should fill a valuable role of vertical specialist, third-down stick mover and red zone matchup nightmare.

Remember the short-yardage issues that the Niners endured against the Seahawks' stifling run defense? Evans is the answer to that. If he's even 75% of his prime self, the 49ers got an enormous deal on a ring-chasing veteran leader.

I didn't love: Nothing. The Odighizuwa trade was an enormous boon. A third-round pick for a rising 28-year-old with three years of team control at a premium position of massive need? Home run! And the fliers on Hobbs and Greenlaw should be exactly the shot in the arm this defense needs. At worst, they will play rotational roles; at best, they could return to starting form.

I had WR depth questions, too, but in comes Kirk. If the 49ers can just keep Trent Williams in the building for one more year and get full recoveries from Mykel Williams (knee) and Nick Bosa (knee), I'll be a full believer.
