Lucked into Shanahan but Lynch as a GM? Wtf?? So many qualified GMs 49ers interviewed...and in the end - they decided to hire a guy who has ZERO experience working in a NFL Front Office. He has ZERO experience as a scout at any level. I understand, so many potential GM candidates rejected 49ers. But, to hire a guy who has never held a position that is in no way related to a day-2-day job profile of a GM is unbelievable. I'm sure Lynch is a smart guy...he was a smart player...but that has NOTHING to do with being a GM. Why take the risk at this time? --------------- edit: After having some time to digest this news...wish him all the best and I hope he proves ppl wrong. Still don't understand why we needed to take such a risk but it is what it is now. I do have to say - his first presser made a positive impression.

I haven't seen Laken play in a while. Is he better this year than Burford? I'm guessing he's better than Colby, so he'd at least be a better backup than Colby.

All I know is the Lions gave up on him, and we helped make him into a Pro Bowler and he got rich (thanks to the Jets)

sooooo... he should want to come back into our system, improve our offense...and try to get paid again by another team.

Although I'm sure John/Kyle would want him on a two year deal lol.

That could be related to system/coaching. He was regarded as a bust when the Niners brought him in. Kyle built his value up so much they couldn't afford him anymore. I'd imagine he'd thrive again here.

They have always made decent moves like this. Smaller moves that pay off.

It's the bigger moves they have whiffed on.

the guy has been released for a reason,.... he's almost 34 and is washed

PFF says a lot of things that are questionable. I no longer even look at their rankings.

The 49ers are about average among alll teams as far as the success of their early picks. We just focus more on the Niners so we're more critical. In thre end it makes no difference if you find players in the first round, the last round or free agency.
