So do I but I at least was hoping they would sign Joey Bosa bu now. f**k YOU MIAMI!!!

What is the saving from the Maliek Collins release?

10 mil it seems, so 10 mil minus who they replace him with.

Free Agent D-Tackle class doesn't look all that great unless they get Jonathan Allen. I'm hoping Lynch goes the trade route. I really thought DJ Jones was gonna be a 49er again!!!

They did restructure the Massage God to create 36 mil in cap space.

Holy s**t I didn't realize they created that much cap space. Well that explains it.

With DJ Jones resigning with Denver, the only other hope for DT I can see in FA is Levi Onswuzurike from Detriot or Poona Ford from the Chargers.

Levi has better ratings and is a better run stopper than DJ Jones according to PFF.

Poona Ford has the best ratings out of the three and is a great run defender according to PFF.

For comparison:

https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/poona-ford/48875

https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/levi-onwuzurike/43679

https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/dj-jones/11953

not sure how much these two would cost on the market though.

Poona Ford had a 1 year- $2,25M contract with the chargers so he should be affordable,... may be a 2 year- $5 or $6M deal,.... this is the type of contract niners need to sign,.... good and experienced players for cheap

Calais Campbell is another excellent player who played last year with a very cheap contract,... he was the 1st graded run defender (and 7th overall) with a $2M contract,... I wouldn't mind signing him for a 1 year contract (38 yo),... but I have not read abut him for a while

niners need to adress the run defense and these 2 were the bests btwin DI-FA last year

and, plz, don't sign Jonathan Alen,.... yeah, he was very good 2021-22 but crap last year the 6 games he played before getting injured,... he was PFF graded 41,3 which qualifies as 179th btwin 219 DIs,... one of the worst,... if not THE worst (with certain amount of snaps)

and he's going to be expensive

I'm cap illiterate, can someone explain to me how the figure of 10million is calculated here if Collins is released ?

Did you really just use 7 games to judge Allen and he still got 3 sacks on the season. I love it when people just use PFF to judge a player, especially when he didn't even play most of the season. Don't do that and btw everyone has a down year sometime in their career.

this blurb says the following

"It is possible that Collins will be a post June 1 release for salary cap purposes. As a straight release Collins will count for $5.432 million in dead money which would be a loss of $670,000 in cap room. As a post June 1 release they can open up $3.4 million this year and defer $3.4 million in dead money to 2026."

which is exactly what I saw on overthecap

where is the 10m salary cap hit thing coming from ?

I have no clue lol. I'm guessing it's not cap space that they're talking about but real $

yeah, it's what I did,... 7 games from 17 is more than enough to judge a player,... and he was crap against the run,... pure and utter crap

we need to fix the run defense which was one of the worst of the entire league and do you want to sign a 30 yo guy, who's going to be very expensive (while there are many cheaper players) and who was the worst run defender last year?
OK, fine.,... but I just hope they don't sign him
