I'm glad that we have someone who looks like he will listen to the opinions of those around him. Trent was power hungry and a control freak. Lynch repeated several times that "he knows what he does not know". Smart enough to admit that right away and he will lean on knowledgeable people. I didn't care about the GM nearly as much as the HC but I am glad that we don't have a massive ego at GM. I wanted McDonough at first but those rumours about how tough he was to work with sounded eerily like Trent. Who knows how this will work out but we have to begin somewhere.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I like the hire. I think a former player like Lynch will get along better with a coach like Shanahan than a lifelong NFL scout/executive.

He knows football and has connections around the league. As long as he leaves contracts to Paraag and get's some experienced NFL and college scouts around him, it sounds like he can provide the leadership to make it all work well.

Good hire. I'm optimistic about the Shanahan/Lynch combo. That's about as good as this regime change could have gone!

He may lack Front Office experience and may need a lot of help negotiating salaries with players ... BUT ... I think most of us want someone who knows how to evaluate players. Do you really need front office experience for this?

IMO, Being able to evaluate players is a big key to developing a good team. Not whether you have the know how to negotiate with players and staff. That he can get help with. I'm more interested in knowing if he can ACQUIRE good players that can help this team and not hinder it.

I think that if I were Jed and or Shanahan, I would have dug deep into finding out how John Lynch felt about some of draftees the past three seasons, BEFORE they were drafted and see how he fared out. That would have given me some indication on how well he can judge a player coming out of college.

Oh well, we got him and hope he pans out. At least they may have gotten somebody without any attitude problems, can listen and be a Team player. I get the feeling that he's a Shanahan pick ... if not one of them or both.

I didn't immediately hate the hire but it scared me. After hearing what football people have to say about him and how respected he is I am excited. I read the full transcript of his radio call to. He HAS to get the right people around him and it looks like he's doing that and he absolutely underruns l understands it. It's also funny hearing from Terry McDonough and lynch among others how respected paraag is around the league.

What did he do right? People outside the fan base, not just 'WHINER' fans, are saying WTF with this hire. On its merits its a s**tty hire from a owner who doesn't get the benefit of the doubt. We're fans not sycophants.

Good post. I appreciate your positivity I just wish I shared it. If we had been great in this department recently most fans wouldn't have much to say. If this had happened in 2014 with Jed firing Baalke, adding Lynch and keeping Harbaugh it wouldn't be a big deal. IMO

I'm with you. idk what to think and won't try to predict since a big part of GM work is based on predicting. Like I thought after the Tomsula hire, I'll wait to criticize Lynch when he gives me a reason to. Good news: no leaks of this happening.

I'm with you with that. All homerism aside, we really were out coached and injury prone the past couple of years. We need a lot, but not a complete new roster. We have solid pieces, just not enough. We have the money tho, and I feel like (at least 4) hires in key positions can help us get a few more wins. The draft, if we're lucky to get a few who can be studs from day one... s**t man, that's a good start for a new season right there

We need a zero tech, and a ILB. Donta Hightower is a FA that I'd like but we need to draft a zero. We most likely need a safety as well. I think if we draft Garrett, coupled with Lynch who WILL come into camp in shape we could be good.

We got #ShlynchMob now, he'll make that secondary even better
