scrubs waived thread

I just counted about 61 guys on that 90 man roster that I really like. Unfortunately there are only 53 spots. Excluding rookies, who else on the roster has practice squad eligibility?

i don't think anyone said that. Gaskins has been terrible as a Niner and the only reason he sniffed a regular season game was because of all the injuries last season.

Here's the thing about Pears. He was brought in as a G and then was switched to T when Davis retired. He was horrible as a T but never got a chance at G

He'll get a look at G before he's cut. I hope that happens but I understand at least looking at him as a G

Devey on the other hand was brought in as a G, sucked as a G, so it make sense to not even give a thought and cut him right away.

And as a backup at that. He never was supposed to play last year.

The transformation of this team/organization has begun. The first move was getting a real head coach. Kelly had his issues in Philly but know one can deny he's a really smart guy. Let Baalke and company handle personnel decisions and the defensive side of the ball and Kelly will be fine. I truly believe this will be like Belicheat first stop in Cleveland. Kelly will go on to do big things in San Fran. The next step is the improvement of the roster from top to bottom. As we call all see certain players that needed to go are already on the way out. Going from Devey to Garnett at the guard position is like going from a Yugo to a Aston Martin. I know a lot of analyst didn't like trading up for Garnett but in my opinion he was the best guard in the draft by a good margin. It was a weak draft for guards and the 49ers desperately needed an upgrade at that position. In my opinion this season is about getting better everyday. I'm going into this season without any expectations. I want to see players learn Kelly's system and be ready to roll into 2017 with a bang. Another thing I'm really excited about is the amount of cap room we have going forward. CK,Bethea and Brooks could all be gone during or after the season opening up even more cap room. Baalke wasn't a big spender during free agency in March but I think that will change somewhat next off season after he sees the team under a new coaching staff for a full season. The 2017 free agency class is better then the 2016 class and will potentially have some gems available. Here's to getting better everyday and bringing glory back to the Niners.

Appreciate the optimism and can see where it is coming from. Still, rebuilding takes time. We essentially have no WR corps outside of Smith, and introducing a brand new offensive system doesn't help the fact that the QB position lacks confidence right now. We also lack standouts at the CB position. Not to mention, our schedule is extremely thick this year.

I see six wins. If we get 7+ and are consistently competitive I'll be as happy and optimistic for the future as you are.
