If Kaepernick isn't in the 49ers long term plans, that means they'd pretty much have to RG3 him lest he gets injured and we repeat this whole process again a year from now, meaning his trade value wouldn't really be any higher in 2017, so why wait to trade him.
Denver has a demand, the 49ers have the supply, find the right market price and get it done.
