On the eve of the NFC and AFC Title Games, I pose a query

I way three seasons:

2016 - We finish 8-8.
Because this roster is way better than 5-11. Sure we lost a lot of talent, but not ALL our talent! This team has talent but we suffered mightily by boneheaded decisions from the FO, absolutely mediocre coaching and staff, and terribly mal-used talent by the coaches.

2017/18 - We'll finish 10-6
We'll be back in the PO via wildcard. Clearly players are buying in to Chips scheme and plan. By year two our hand-picked coaching staff (as opposed to fallback candidates under Jimmie T.) will be fully gelled and have a good beat on the roster and how best to use it. By the looks of things Chip is hiring guys who will counter-balance him and not be a bunch of yes men to his philosophy. And with Tom Gamble buffering the two strong personalities (Chip & Baalke) I think Chip's staff will be freer than Jimmie T's to do their jobs without the GM on the practice field coaching DB's. Plus, by this time Chip & Co. will now have two full drafts under their belts. I still think that we should draft a QB with our first pick and let him sit the 2016 season. If Chip wants a QB and Baalke drafts him in 2016, and Chip sits him, the 2017 49ers team will be young and really dangerous.

2018/19 - 12-4
We reclaim the NFC West title and back to the NFC title game. With the previous two seasons with that kind of progress how could we not be a real favorite for a conference title appearance?

IMHO
2 years playoffs, 3 years nfcc game win......sb win against the Chiefs
I can see the upside to chip and his innovative football, not just game calls but everything. But if it doesn't work out how long does he get to bring the 49er back to prominence? Or i guess the question is, what would chip have to do to not be HC here for 4 yrs?
