No it wasn't but there is another thread for that discussion.
This. Maybe we need to make a flow map chart with dates and article references to show the flow of power from Terry Donahue to Trent Baalke.

I like the fact that he said Trent and the new HC will have to work together to bring the roster together.

The saddest thing is it looks like Baalke's job is safe for a while. We will live and die, well die mostly for his sh*tty drafting.

Agreed. I have a lot of respect for Jed admitting he was wrong. I think he gets a lot of animosity, but I don't have the hate for Jed that some seem to express.
I like a lot of what he's said, and the biggest thing is yesterday his action in firing Tomsula spoke louder than words. But the words are nice too. I believe him when he says he cares about the team's success much beyond monetary reasons. I do think he wants to win. We'll see what happens and who we get.
Yep, I think it was a necessary first step. This off-season will be interesting for sure. If they make a huge splash with a coach and FA then I'll be much more cautiously optimistic which is way better than I felt going into this past season.
The perceived quality of the new HC will have a huge impact on the success or failure of FA.

I think folks are going to run crazy with this and it's really not necessary. All he was referring to was that they believed in someone, thought very highly, and even though it didn't pan out, they're at least able to reset and will have access to higher tier talent with a higher pick. But folks are going to run with this and twist the words to say "we'd rather tank for a high pick" when that's not what he meant.
Everything else he said was very good, in my opinion.
I agree with you. Even him for that matter but when things go to s**t on you the way it did for us last year at this time. That is just hoing to add fuel to everyones fire.

This is pretty close to what he said, the conference just was showed on sports center. asked about 8-8 5-11 record? Neither record is acceptable. "Id rather take a swing like we did on Jimmy T. The good thing about the NFL is they reward you for missing, we have a high draft pick and i dont want to be drafting high but if we don't compete to championships id rather be drafting high to add top tier talent to this roster"

His contract is up soon. If he f**ks up he's out.

I got the sense he's truly humbled by what happened this season...he owned up to taking a gamble on Tomsula that just didn't pay off. He did praise JT for his high character and dedication. He's keeping Baalke because he has faith he can rebuild the roster to be competitive for a championship again. The team's in the top 5 of available cap space in the league and has more draft picks than anyone. He also said the new head coach would work hand-in-hand w/Baalke to bring in the right talent (via FA and the draft). He gets the criticism...and is determined to turn those boos into cheers. Let's see how he does.

He did say the right things and name drop his uncle which is always a positive sign, and how it would interfere less with day to day. I think the comment about him being not happy with the roster could be a nod to Baalke having less of a say on the roster depending on the next HC hire and a much shorter leash.
If you hire an experienced guy like Holmgren, Kelly, Payton they would probably get more say on personnel than say Gase, Bevel, Shaw.
I still think not firing Baalke could haunt the fan base especially if we draft a QB in the 1st round and it doesn't pan out
