we should play to win at all costs or lose for higher draft pick

Fostering a culture of winning is much, much more important than draft position.

I may be way off on this, but I don't think Baalke's going to be trading down this next draft. The team is not in an 'add depth' position now. The team needs impact players.
Just play, whatever happens, happens
before this game, everyone was mad that we were losing.

WTF people
The NFL more than other sports is a right now league. Winning is the goal. Some teams are drafting top 10 every year and they're still losing. Just Win Baby.

I say win, but its tough to see better talented teams snatching top end players before us. 2011 draft for example, missed out on Julio, PP, because we won the last game. Oh yeah, it was Tomsula's interim game.

Yeah but do you think the Cards would rather have Peterson or JJ Watt right?

They got a chance to draft one of the best can't miss prospect for that year. There where alot in the top 6. Every one was blinded and missed on Watt, including us. Yes we got Aldon and he was great, but wouldn't you mind having a shutdown corner or a legit #1 receiver now?

Yet the best player in the draft went after both of them. The point is that good talent will be there, wherever they pick. Id love to see them get Tunsil or Nkemdiche but would not be upset to end up with Jaylon Smith or Treadwell.

Maybe if we all cheer with the same power level they will win.
Does winning one or two additional games keep the current staff employed?

Not firing these idiots and losing out on premiere talent would really suck.

It shouldn't be a question. A team that doesn't do its best to win every game shouldn't be in the league, and fans who would rather throw games away this season to rort the system for next season aren't really fans of the team or the game
You play to win always. In practice, in preseason and on every play let alone every game. The draft is important but so is free agency. There's only X amount of dollars in the salary cap era so when the dollars are close things like competitiveness play a huge role in making people's decisions. The stink of loser is hard to get rid of. The pats are a good example once they were competitive through sheer dumb luck into drafting Brady look at the guys they got through FA and trades- Randy Moss who happily restructured his contract, Corey Dillon, Rodney Harrison to name a few. Hell let's look at the cards perpetual failures for 40 odd years until recently. they signed one of the best LT's to hit FA in recent years and are able to sign solid vets on cheap 1 year prove it deals to top it off they're resigning their younger core players.
To me I want to see us win games and think that is more important than draft position just because the draft is such a crap shoot anyways. However, winning games might be detrimental to our long term success because it may mean that Tomsula is kept around longer. In my opinion, he MUST be fired after this year. There is no future with Tomsula as our head coach. I don't ever see him being a successful head coach in the NFL.
