Why not? It's not any longer a flight then playing in Europe. It would probably have to be another West Coast team. As long as it's a preseason game, maybe the Raider's would be willing since they need money and new fans. That rivalry would probably create more hype and excitement for a meaningless preseason game.

Wait, what? Isn't the flight to Australia from the west coast of North America like 15 hours or something? Not to mention the time change is completely turned up-side-down, and not just a few hours difference like the games in London.

I don't know why they'd bother, but then I even less understand why they ever tried to have anything to do with Europe. Barking up the wrong tree with those shirt lifters.
Seems they get fair crowds in the states, you'd need way more to justify all the expenses of moving it.

Spreading the fanbase. Look how many Aussies had no interest in the game before this year, and how popular it's become among some now. The games in London are always sold out. Whether it's Americans attending or euros, there is a lot of support from over there. Years ago the 49ers played the preseason opener in Japan. Just a way to generate new revenues. What business wouldn't want to do that. Even the corporate giants are always looking to expand.

Were you flying to Europe on the Spruce Goose or what.
I can fly from Phoenix to Frankfurt, Germany in 13 hours. Flying to Sydney would be like another 5 or 6 hours, or the equivalent of what a flight from San Francisco to Boston would take.

LOL, having traveled to Australia the easy way......it's FARRR away.
If I have to fly back from America I think I'll use Hawaii as a stepping stone, and include at least an overnight there. I believe it's "only" 10 1/2 hours from Hawaii to Sydney.
I'm certifiable in coach up to 9 or 10 all day. Haven't gone longer than that unless it was Business.

I'd go. It's just a shame that Suncorp couldn't host a game because the atmosphere would be great. Unless they could reconfigure the ground, there's just not enough room between the sideline and stands to fit the teams, coaches and other hangers on who line the edge of the field in the NFL.

The ticket sales from bums on seats is well and good, but the real payoff is the media exposure + public interest leading to new TV viewership.
