Charles ypc average was pretty decent but he was still held to just 49 yards rushing. Making two of the best running backs in the league a complete nonfactor in back to back games is fantastic. Their DL has just mauled the opposing OL in those two games. Most of these stats are so inflated because of the week one performance. Why more people don't give one of the better overall defenses in the league so far this year some respect is a real head scratcher. And now they get back from suspension Guion, who was a key piece in the run defense as last season progressed.
Lynch was banged up, and the Chiefs were taken out of their run game early due to being behind 24-7 by halftime. Pack offense had something to do with that, they are hard to stop and force teams to play from behind. Didn't stop Charles, he was productive with the touches he had and scored 3 TDs in the game.
The DL is solid, but the LB core is poor in run defense.
Again, dead last in yards per attempt. Dead last in run defense DVOA, which takes into account opponent and game situation. 24th in run defense grade, per PFF.
I respect their team and the fact they are a much better football team than we are, but you can't make the case they are a good run-stopping unit through 3 weeks. If there is one way the 49ers can have success against the Pack, it's on the ground. Guion coming back is a nice addition. I still think it's the LB core that's not playing the run well.
