Of course Ellington makes it. Hayne's value is that besides being what looks to be a sure-handed PR who can also gain a few yards, he can also play cover teams AND is a backup RB who can catch and looked pretty good in pass pro.

I don't think people appreciate that Dylan "Staredown" Thompson was flinging it around last night either. In a real game he would have been picked off no less than eight times. Ellington was especially impressive in light of that.

Agreed with pretty much everything. Not sure Ellington, Hunter or Patton make the team, not sure the heck happened with those guys...

Hunter is a RB3 at best now, but Mike Davis and Bush are RBs, so he is probably the odd man out.

Patton and Ellington may be kept only for depth

Not sure what value Hayne really brings... Do they keep Hayne instead of Bush, or both?
lol did you miss the part where ellington took a slant 70 yards to the house or what?

all that speed lined up on the field with a torrey, vernon and reggie bush combo?

yea...

touché! could be nice. I guess he could be good as 4 or 5 WR

I still think you're way underrating him. Ellington is a prototypical slot receiver, the ideal #3 guy on a roster, plus he brings return ability to the table as well.
I was happy with the victory last evening . It broods confidence in this club and we will need every ounce of that as the season starts . I thought everyone showed up with their best effort but they can't all be 9ers

The only thing that dissapointed me last evening that Acosta wasn't kicking 50 yard field goals in his sleep cause we could always use those 6 to 9 points we left on the turf last nite on any given Sunday
Not taking nothing away from Old Guy but I really was impressed with the former and wished we would have pulled the trigger there as well.

Nice to see Lynch out there flying around also .

How well have any of the WR's done in the preseason in general, how well can anyone do when you pass for 80 yards a game. I think both Patton and Ellington will have opportunities to make plays, if they don't, then one of them could be getting bumped off the roster by Simpson when he returns. Conversely White's spot on the roster could only be temporary depending on how he performs, particularly on special teams.

Ya see...that last part is the part I'm not so sure about. I'm wondering if White has a shot to be the 3rd WR.

you better be trolling with that ellington comment. Dude is fast, quick, good hands, made a huge play, and almost took a return to the house.

Ellington is staying. Patton will stay until Simpson comes back and hunter is gone Fasho

I doubt it. He's earned his spot on the roster but he's got a ways to go. Last night was a huge step forward and he made one really nice play on a poorly thrown ball(one of many by Thompson) especially but then again, the guys that were defending him will be working at Starbucks next week. Its like when Lavelle Hawkins went off in the last preseason game a few years ago. I think special teams is where he will be able to provide the most value to the team.

I don't see Patton going anywhere unless he completely bombs while Simpson is out. He's apparently done very well in practice and has gotten rave reviews from coaches like Adam Henry. I expect him and Ellington to push each other for playing time behind Smith and Boldin. I'm also expecting there to be a heavy amount of 2 TE sets, especially if Miller is out.

I am kind of hoping that he doesn't actually take over in the slot to be honest, his skills look better on the outside. I really, really hope he sticks around though. If he could work his way up to letting Bolden play some slot or going 4 wide with him, Ellington, Bolden and Smith I would be a very happy man. Then get Smelter learning to take over from Bolden when he is healthy.

i still thinking ellington has that 3rd spot. White is good but i doubt he is ready. Ellington has more experience and i think he gets the nod until simpson get back.

We are looking to have a good stable of WRs for the next 3-4 years. Ellington, White, T.Smith, and Smelter!!!

i do hope your right because Patton seems like a great locker room presence.

I am not a fan of him jumping into the stands though. I dont want GB people saying we are copying the Lambeau leap

Patton has the 3rd spot, which is why he didn't play at all last night along with the vast majority of the other starters. Ellington is in the mix for it, White will get a few snaps here and there on offense but mostly will be a special teamer.

Simpson will likely take over that spot when he returns unless either Patton or Ellington are beasting.
