upping the competition is fine but the outcome does not matter whatsoever. players are fighting for roster spots and the coaching staff is evaluating them... not trying to win. what happened last time we went 4-0 in the preseason? oh right. started 0-5 in the regular season. This would be true if they had played in leveled groups, but they didn't. The players were mixed, all levels coming in and out of the game. For the most part this game was a few starters on both teams with a mixture of 2nd to camp fodder mixed in at any give time.

As someone said earlier, they are trying to separate out the guys who are at the end of the roster to make sure they keep the best backups. This was not a game to measure one team against another.

They have two more games to get down to 75 players I believe (Sept. 1). So they have to play these young guys, especially the TEs, WRs, and DBs...where there is a logjam of talent.

This....I did like what I saw from Gabbert. I dunno....its not too farfetched to think that Gabbert could possibly take the reigns if Kaep doesn't work out. Gabbert looked comfortable in the pocket there most of the night. Yes he threw short passes for completions but thats how you get into a rythm. Kaeps 2nd pass I believe was a bomb to Torrey, which was catchable.

As someone who may have been critical of some of 9moons threads early, just gotta say good mentality! Was afraid we were getting another SanDiego (the pillar of optimism) for awhile there

Team looked physically weaker and worse conditioning than previous years its pretty obvious Tomsula not pushing them hard in practice. Prolly doesn't want to offend anyone.
