no i got that. why didnt we chase him? 2.5m is a pretty feeble price to pay for zb experienced all pro even if he is damaged goods. with mathis we could keep pears as the backup he is supposed to be.

He may have not wanted to come here. Happens.
he made the visit to Seattle before Denver ?

the longer this coaching staff decide who should be the starting OL, the longer it will take the 5 men to have the chemistry needed..

if the OL coach can't decide because of inconsitency, then Tomsula needs to just take the names, write it down, and boom, here's my starter for the year and let them lose their starting position..

Staley - Looney - Martin - Thomas - Boone
I also would like to see Staley Thomas Martin Boone Brown. We can't assume that they won't have any chemistry. We don't know how much these guys have been working together.

If I were going to do that I would switch it arounf a tiny bit, due to the fact that boone has already got tons of reps at the lg spot.

I love this one...i think this combo will be dominant next year and years to come

I'd feel better with one veteran on each end.

understood. But you want to keep some continuity and boone and staley have been working together all offseason.
In an article (slide show for some reason) Matt Maiocco mentioned as the number one of five "Top 5 Takeaways" from the Denver preseason game that Tomsula's biggest disappointment was the 13 penalties for 113 yards:

I had noticed that while watching the game. It wasn't just the third and fourth string players goofing up. In the first half I think there was over 50 yards in penalties. Special teams seemed to have a lot penalties. I'm sure part of it had to do with shuffling so many guys in and out and guys trying too hard to show their stuff, but penalty fever is not a symptom you want your team to have, so I hope they get to the root of what the problem is with that. Does anyone know if there were a lot of penalties in the other preseason games? If not, maybe this last game was not indicative of a deep problem.

Two things I really dislike to see the team do is a lot of turnovers and penalties. (I also hate to see a lot of sloppy/missed tackles.)

Sloppy tackling and penalties were definately an issue.

Also, that dreaded playclock was often getting close to 00. That is odd as hell considering we apparantly had no audibles.

Can anyone explain what happened on those plays?

I'd have to rewatch the game (why would I? ) but I didn't notice playclock issues outside of the 1 delay of game we had.

It also seems easier to push the pace after a successful play. It takes longer when your players are roadkill and need to be peeled off the ground every play.. O-line got destroyed and Kap nearly killed.

Presesaon games...running players in and out, a bunch of guys who will be cut wondering what they are suppose to do. But it's good Tomsula isn't accepting excuses.

HAH... This tread alone and my expectation of Staley declining tells me that OT is the way of the draft next year..

Boone I really believe will be gone after this year.

All pro pass rushers can do that to a oline.
