I think the decision was made prior to Kelly being hired and I have a feeling Kaepernick is gone no matter what but I think he has a better chance of being a good QB again than Gabbert has to be a good QB for the first time in his career.

I do think Kelly's offense could be beneficial to Gabbert who can make quick short throws without having to move well in the pocket.

I didn't say it was impressive. I just think that the 49ers need a true franchise QB and that guy isn't on the roster right now. If it comes down to Kaepernick serving as a placeholder for $11+ mil or Gabbert at $2 mil, Gabbert clearly has the advantage. In anycase, neither of these guys will be on the 49ers roster in a couple years.

Any truth to the report yet? Imagine if he did go and gets beat by the scrub QB they got. That would be career ending.
I have been the biggest Kap supporter but if this is true and can't be fixed quickly it's time to move on. I want it to work!! But team first! Kap wants to be with the NINERS or Gods speed and I wish him the best!

Competitive was the adjective I disagreed with.
I definitely agree the 49ers should be looking for a franchise QB, they probably should have started when they decided to hedge their bet on Kaepernick.
I doubted he would be back before kelly, but there was some hope with that hire.

But then the staff came and now this. Not looking good.

We better nab a QB in the draft.

Haha. Gabbert at his best is not even close to Alex Smith and we didn't want to settle for playoff bound. I think Smith would've flourished in CHIPS offense.

CK definitely not happy with #49ers but we have miles to go in this saga. NYJ, HOU, DEN, CLE among possibilities.... @Tha_Green_1 True??

I say Denver. Then he can avoid throwing to Vernon Davis again.

I doubt Elway wants any part of this

I wouldn't mind taking Bryce Petty off their hands.

Really Bryce petty?

That I think he would. However if they do end up cutting ties with Kaepernick, then they'll have a shot at drafting a QB early if they want them.

Wouldn't they still have a shot to draft a QB even if they kept Kaepernick?

Really looking for a savior. That's digging deep that could set us back another 10 years.
I hope we get Goff at #7 and then trade up for Jaylon Smith.

I doubt that you spend an early pick on a QB if you opt to keep Kaepernick.
