I will say it again. As a Panthers fan, there is very little difference between Newton, Kaepernick, Wilson, and Luck. Some are a little better than others at one aspect...but then not as good as the others. But ONLY in the case of Luck is the fan base willing to give him the time and EXPERIENCE necessary to learn, adjust, and grow. ONLY Luck gets this benefit.
The sad thing is that Wilson, Kaepernick, and now Newton have in 4 straight years, played in the Superbowl. Wilson was a yard away from being back to back champion...and Kaepernick about 5 yards from winning a Superbowl too. Yet it is Luck that is given all the benefit of the doubt.
Not Newton, Not Kaepernick, Not Wilson...but the great Andrew Luck...
And keep in mind, Andrew Luck and IND never had the great defense that helped the 49ers (gone now, will take a long long time to rebuilt it and it still might not ever come back), Seattle, and now Carolina to the Super Bowl.
Do you really want to get in a debate on the AMAZING resources and SUPPORT that Colts have given Luck.
Let's start:
Got rid of Manning to make sure Luck will feel comfortable.
Retained Wayne to ensure that Luck will have a vet WR
Immediately drafted Luck's college roommate and TE the pick after him
Hired Bruce Arians as his OC
Drafted OL (some out of Stanford)
Placed Luck in a system that relied on his strengths
Hired his college OC when Arians took the AZ job
Drafted WR after WR after WR (in early rounds) to ensure that Luck would have gaudy numbers
Traded first round drafts picks for RB after his RB went down
Signed Johnson
Signed Gore
Signed a pro bowl OL from the Eagles
Luck will in all likelihood sign a contract that pays him North of 25 million a year.
You are literally are on crack if you believe the Colts have not done EVERY damn thing in their collective power to make Luck be as successful as can be.
Any ONE of those moves are more than ANYTHING the Panthers have done for Newton in 5 years.
