They've been surprisingly good. Just please stay healthy. I do worry about the playoff defenses- we will see one next week. So for sure we'll know

Yeah I thought he did fine from what I had seen. All you can expect for a swing tackle is to not get embarrassed

Agreed. Highly surprising considering the expectation was they would suck. Seems some of the guys are developing and puni is back to good form.

Unfortnatly i have a feeling it may come to an end next week in terms of Purdy being so clean against the broncos

Through three weeks, the #49ers have two of the top 6 and three of the top 13 offensive linemen in the league in pressure rate allowed, per Next Gen Stats:
— Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) September 28, 2026
No. 1 -- C Jake Brendel - 0%
T-No. 6 -- RG Dominick Puni - 2.2%
No. 13 -- LT Trent Williams - 3.7%

Verdarian is more of a pass protector than a run blocker, so it makes more sense to run behind Puni. Apparently his run blocking isn't as great as his pass blocking is. Trent is All World, he can do anything and everything. Hope his stinger isn't any worse than what we've been told.

Dominick Puni has an 87.7 pass block grade so far this season, highest of any guard in the NFL who has started all three games. He has allowed just two QB pressures (hurries) through three weeks. #49ers

A huge part of Purdy's success has been excellent pass protection from the interior line. In addition to Puni's 87.7 PP rate, Brendel is 80, and Colby is 70. Last year the LG position was in the mid-50s most of the year. And give Brendel credit for setting good blocking calls.
When a QB doesn't have pressure in his face immediately after the snap, the game is much easier.

Yea. He's been knocked down 3 times. One was a pretty nasty hit below the knees.

Puni's run blocking grade is 64.3 (30th out of 68 guards) However I think this is a misleading stat, becuase a good portion of all the run blocks that Puni executes is Kyle setting up the defense for a play action pass. In other words they are purposefully throwing away run plays to set up the real explosive plays, which are usually screens, draws, or play action passes. I think Puni grades more towards the top quarter in run blocking if you take into account how Kyle calls his plays.
