This is what happens when you spend no money and blow all your picks on dlineman who couldn't rush a qb to save their lives

But it didn't happen in the 5 wins. Or does the point count only when the 49ers lose?

I hate to break it to ya but even in the wins the Oline was bad at best. We have had a run game what once so far this season?

I hate to break it to you but it was the same Dline, except we are down DE #1, #3, #4, and lost #5 in this game. If it were only the Oline brought up, I wouldn't have said a word. But to bring up the Dline's inability to rush the passer? What Dline is going to have any kind of pass rush losing that many guys? To claim we blew the picks on Dline instead of Oline was completely unfair.

Now if you want to address the pattern with Oline over 9 years, Im with you. I asked in another post does the staff think our current Oline could hold up against our Dline? The problem is twofold. They haven't done enough, Dline talent in general is better than Oline talent, and the development of Dline talent has outpaced Oline development. I blame them for 1.5 of those three issues. The mere fact that Jaylon Moore and Aaron Banks got the contracts they did lets you know the state of Iline league wide.

McKivitz got destroyed.
We need so many players on both lines. I don't think it can be fixed in one year. This line can't run block. They can't pass block when we are playing from behind. It's not good.

McKivitz is one of the worst RT I've seen. And they just gave him a 3 yr $45 mil extension! They are really stupid with the Oline!

McKivitz was dealing with one of the three best Edge Defenders (Will Alexander) in the league. That's not an excuse. It is just the reality that even the best RTs in the game struggle against that level of rusher.

Part of the problem was the lack of coordination in the IOL with a continuing change of players at LG and Hennessy's lack of experience in Kyle's system. In a normal situation (is anything normal anymore) McKivitz would have received help from the inside but that wasn't there yesterday because Settle and Rankins (DTs) were keeping the IOL at home. To make matters worse, it is clear Trent is no longer the player he was two years ago. Danielle Hunter was owning him most of the game.

It all comes back to a general lack of quality in our OL. Going against one of the best front fours in the league just exposed it.

Of course all that was exacerbated by the lack of a credible pass receiving threat except for the few occasions Kyle took Kittle away from blocking so he could catch a pass or two.

Excellent point.

It starts in college where the biggest, strongest, fastest guys wind up on the DL. The lesser guys wind up on the OL trying to block guys who are naturally better athletes. It is what it is.

The answer is that at some point, premium draft capital must be spent on the relatively few high-quality OL coming out of college. FA cannot be relied on unless you are willing to pay guys like Trent Williams the outrageous amount of money he gets. That is not a good plan when they hit the back end of the contract and they slow down. FWIW, Trent has a $38.8 million cap hit in 2026. Our only hope is to cut him post June one which would reduce that hit to $13 million. Such is the nature of the FA game.

Honestly wouldn't count on them making the right pick in the 1st round. They seem to over think s**t.

Scary thing is your right. It's why when you get to the superbowl you have to win it. We had been healthy with a bunch of stars. Now we are in a re build starting with the O line. I hope they get back soon but that's what all the teams say.
Can we get a G that does this please?

SHANNY won't need one, he believes that he can turn any players GREAT. He thinks he can DUPLICATE the PATCHED OL his dad did when Denver won BACK TO BACK..
Nick Zakelj was horrendous while in for Colby. Not sure what the change was for but it didn't work

That doesn't turn Shanny on. Instead, he gets real moist when watching CMC squirm his way through nooks n crannies
