It seems like they need to bring in a tackle for some kind of depth especially when Williams gets hurt again. I don't know why the heck they let Heck go.
It seems like they might plan to bring on a FA. I know he's been a turd but maybe they will give Jedrick Willis a try.

Agreed. They clearly need to bring in some free agent help now for depth
I think we have a decent OL and throwing a s**tload of capital at it in the draft doesn't always work (look at the giants), but I also think we couldve rolled the dice somewhere earlier and you never know (puni)

Pleasants will be the swing tackle more likely

I don't think there are many free agent tackles available. I know we all wanted them to draft some O line players but this wasn't a good year for it. I went back and looked at the entire draft ths morning. Here's the list of O line players taken.

1st round 5 tackles 2 guards. The top tackles went in the first 10 picks which indicates how few were going tobe available
2nd round 3 tackles 2 guards.
3rd round 3 tackles 2 guards
4th round 1 tackles 0 guards
5th round 1 tackle 3 guards

Out of over 170 picks we saw only 13 tackles and 9 guards chosen in the first 5 rounds. This is a position group that all teams want to improve. 32 teams adds up to 5 starters and at least 5 backups. That's 320 O linemen. Yet we saw only 23 chosen in 5 rounds. That shows what a poor class this was for O linemen. The Niners were smart not to just take guys that weren't gong tommake the roster. Maybe the one guy they took fits their scheme and he might be a solid backup at least.

folks need to understand the scheme and what is needed to make it go. This is not a Martz offense. It's not a straight drop back passing team. There's a reason they value run blocking & athletic ability.

So you are saying is that there were zero OLmen available from the 4th rd through to the 7th, they were either terrible or a bad scheme fit. We took a WR, RB and QB. Our OL is not that good nor does it have quality depth.

It's just not that big of a deal. Not sure what else to say

Keep in mind your list is based on positional listings from ESPN or the like. Not all teams viewed Campbell, Membou, Banks, Ersery, Rogers and Grant as tackles..

Who's still out there trying to find a gig via free agency? I kept reading about Sherff. But isn't that dude done with football?
Does anyone know if there are any June 1st cuts that could help or Oline? At least a swing tackle and center, just curious.

At some point they just have to FORCE the issue on offensive line. 2026 should be like 2025 except offensive line. Just pick after pick. Early and middle rounds. You have to hit on some. Just a numbers game. This year was to fix up the defensive front 7. Next year has to be offensive line. But I doubt they will do it.

Last year should've been the year they went heavy on offensive line since it was loaded. All they got was Puni. This regime will never win a championship as long as they keep neglecting the offensive trenches and settling with subpar players.

I agree for sure. It will be their downfall.

It's just f**king stupid. There is no other way to say it. Gruden said it best regarding Purdy..saved their ass. And they still neglect the oline. I dnt get it. This office keeps making stupid decisions and ppl wonder why they dnt have a trophy. Is Kyle a genius? Cause he does seem smart as hell sometimes but stupid as s**t other times. And I am like wt actual f? Lol I am sounding like you today SD haha. This draft was exciting then meh. It could have been better imo but that seems to be the theme of the Niners the last few years or so..could have been better.

I've always known what they are. Shany and Lynch. You can't win like this. The Eagles and Lions build BOTH sides of the trenches. Chiefs even try there. Bears built up the offensive line around Caleb Williams. Serious teams know the OFFENSIVE LINE matters too. You can't just keep pretending that only 1 side of the trenches matters. Like this team. It will be their downfall and has been.

Ther Chiefs needed O line help. They took Josh Simmons with the last pick in round one. Simmons has major health concerns. He could become a good tackle or a complete wasted pick. Other than that they didn't pick any O linemen.

You can't pick what isn't there. Taking a bunch of so-so guys late and hoping they can become good starters is a huge gamble. Most never become good, Especially tackles. If a tackle is really good he's gone in round one or two.

To that point, here are the rankings for 49er OL, according to PFF:

Tackle - #7 and #34 out of 81 players who had qualifying reps last season.

Guard - #6 and #15 (Bartch did not have qualifying reps but in the reps he did have, he was #15).

Center - #17 of 40.

I will be so bold as to say that is a pretty solid group, with some young talent behind them for depth.
