Never said he did. I said IF given the choice of having mahomes and a mediocre line or dak Prescott/whatever decent qb and an elite line, 32/32 teams choose mahomes.

In other words, my point from the beginning is that the chiefs didnt have some incredible OL unit. They had a great interior and bad to average tackles. The reason the bad to a erage tackles didn't matter is because they had an elite qb

The mediocre chiefs oline held the vaunted eagles dline to ZERO sacks in the superbowl. The mediocre chiefs oline held the vaunted niners dline to ZERO sacks in the superbowl.

Protecting Mamommes is mandatory. The chiefs showed last year that you don't need to pay big money to wrs or running backs by letting hill go. Oline is more important.

They need to have a better record and they will have the easier road in the playoffs. Philly had a bye week while the 49er had to play the Seahawks. I think this is a Kyle Shanahan problem. He runs training camp easier and want to get everyone onto the season healthy. One and a half hour practices stuff like that. I understand why he does it. However I feel the team as a hole come into the season a little out of shape and slow. The first 5 week they are still getting into shape so the team starts 2-3 or 3-2 something like that ? Last year they lost to the Bear, Broncos, and Falcons early. I feel that because of the slow starts to the seasons the end of the regular season are almost playoff games and the 49er player run out of gas during the playoffs, emotionally and physically.

That is a reaonable take. We do need to get off to a faster start so we can give ourselves an easier path in the playoffs.

So true. Often times with a few slow starts, it means we're tapping out at the end of the season just to get in the playoffs and inevitably, run out of steam. And like you noted, get stuck with tougher paths to the Superbowl. We had the easiest path ever the year we started off hot. I'd love to see that again.

We haven't had both yet going into the playoffs...not individually, not together.

Until we do, we'll continue to have these team building debates.

Few pages back you claimed not addressing the o line cost us two titles. So yes you are suggesting a better o line would've made up for all time qb playoff ineptitude. There wasn't a caveat about qb or secondary.

To put it simply I believe the 9ers can win the SB as long as the 9ers have a top 10-12 o line. If the QB isn't top 10 (and probably playing like top 5) there is zero shot.

Lol the eagles pressured him on 35% of his drop backs.

35%!!!

Why do you think they had no sacks?

Indeed. Hopefully Brock is able to start hot like last season along with the defense and O line as well.

Be nice to not have multiple stupid penalties that give the opposition their points too.

Or turnovers in the redzone and safeties.

The one thing that is perplexing is that if we don't have at least a top 10 line even our number 1 defense can't save us in the playoffs. Left side is good the right and middle is just not up to par yet. From all I'm reading is we are very week at right and swing tackle positions. I don't know for sure cause I'm not there watching but it should be alarming we have not addressed the line.

Hopefully after camp cuts we can pick someone up to help the right side. If we don't it's probably gonna take us away from number 6.

Defense can't save us if the secondary plays below average again or the qb play is substandard either.

I agree.. however the D line improvement should make the secondary better Pending signing Bosa. The O line is crucial to the QB play and visa versa.

Wanna bet in year 7 too?

Lol you had no clue who Wirfs even was. We were also betting based in G play and I honored it even with the position switch . You did get me though. Congrats

Blown coverages and/or penalties that result in huge chunks of yardage for me. Hopefully Wilks is the right guy to correct those.

Haha. It's all good. Wirfs was my #1 followed by Lamb. NY can attest. That said, I understood why they went with Kinlaw after trading Buckner though.

We were up 10 late in the 4Q. So yes, any slight improvement in talent (and health) in any other area could have made the difference. That includes QB, secondary, OL and pass rush.

I think the media has really grilled Kyle about this as a pattern. Hopefully it works this year. I hate being behind the 8 ball.
