Here's a palette cleanser.

On a critical 3rd down too. Who knows how the game changes if the 49ers convert there. blah

IIRC, Boone also yells at Martin after the conclusion of the play b/c he tapped his outside left leg indicating he'd take the inside guy...while leaving Martin with 2?

Yup saw that convo after the play. JMartin had to do what he did though. Or else there's an unblocked edge rusher. It's Boone and MMartin who are holding hands doing nothing.

I know a little bit about football, but I would never claim to have the knowledge that Harbs and roman have. All criticism aside, but they really need some one in their ear telling them "hey, that throwback pass off of run action get 10-15 yards everytime", "can we please wear that s**t out". The beauty of that play is you can wrap it up any way you want and get whoever you want involved---I'm looking at you VD

It's just sad how our unquestioned strength has become such a liability.

1st & 10
49ers try to flood the left side of the field. Another play where it's a half field read as Boldin and VD do not figure into the play.

Kap completes a playfake and looks up to see this. Maxwell is running stride for stride with Crabs with a FS over the top. Miller is covered by Chancellor, a very lanky defender. Both of those routes (Crabs, Miller) pushes the zone defenders on that side of the field up the field. This earns Hyde some good space to work his route.

Kap targets Miller vs Chancellor. If Kap puts the ball at the yellow X, Hyde has room to make a play. Too aggressive with the throw. This is 1st down.

Incomplete pass.

This is up there for worst Kaepernick play this season imo. First, he misses Hyde who is wide open with running room. Instead, he targets BRUCE MILLER deep against Kam Chancellor! Who in their right mind thinks that's a good idea!? What makes it even worse is his god awful throw to the inside, giving Bruce no chance to catch it and putting it dangerously close to Chancellor. Awful decision and throw

Agree. That one certainly wasn't on Martin there and that's an easy one to see.

Miller even ends up playing DB rather well to BTW.

It's like a dysfunctional relationship. It's much easier to see things from the outside....inside, that's a whole other story!

It's just frustrating because there are some tweaks with in the offense that we currently run that could have huge benefits. I have little doubt that wearing out (as I call it) stuff we do well in the passing game(namely, throwbacks off of run action and spider y banana) we can find 30-40 more yards of offense and 2-3 more first downs. This could have a big impact on the overall offense and the perception of kap as a Qb.

How nice would that throwback off of run action look in goal to go situations.

Here's a designed throw (AR concept) that looks to get the RB involved.

49ers look to hit Gore on a RB circle route.
SEA: cover3

This is a designed throw because VD and Miller never look back for the ball. They run their "route" then target their block. Kap sees that Gore has been schemed open.

Notice Miller is already blocking. Gore gets both hands on the ball, but can't handle the pass. Incomplete.

(I know the players looks like ants. The Levi's stadium all22 operator loves to zoom wide. It gets everyone easily in view, but everyone is extra tiny)

What some may miss here is a play exposing Kaepernicks lack of proper touch. Which impacts the short game, especially down the middle when he has to throw over linemen.

I can't see the gif on my phone, the video won't load but I watched it a few times on regular recording. The fact Kap jumps at the line to get the ball over defenders and delivers a straight line pass may have something to do with Gores inability to catch the ball.

Rather than passing with arch, with a softer touch a 6-4 QB has to jump and throw a stright line pass in order to create a passing lane? Why?

It's funny b/c somene just posted a 2012 video of CK's highlights and the very first two plays were a seam route to VD and a read-option keeper also, for a TD. Where have these plays been? Just like the roll-right, toss-back left, I've been begging for that one to come back and it's been ages since I've last seen it.

Not positive but watching it live and rewatching it, it seems like it may have been tipped by a DL there? CK usually doesn't have too many issues with his short game when it's the primary call (like a drag route to VD, McDonald or Crabtree, swing pass to Gore, etc.). That said, these kinds of passes clearly are NOT part of the game plan (the focus). That said, if there was an added focus on these kids of passes, even as primary reads, I genuinely think he would become more effecient and accurate at them (it is an area he needs to work on). Like Montana, he could even learn that "where" he passes, he can actually lead the RB/FB/TE to the most open space and maximize YAC.

You and I talked about this this past off season...JUST adding the check-downs and dump-offs, the short game as a primary read, TO the long ball and running game, we'd be unstoppable. This game somewhat illustrates how just making a small shift in focus...to the backs if the sideline go-routes aren't there...could have made all the difference. Basically, use the same game plan Seattle used against us. Simple. Effective. Enough.
