Do you not want him to draft any WR's this year or are you going to subscribe to the theory that even a broken clock is right twice a day?
Just askin..........

Originally posted by pasodoc9er:Pillbusta, I have mentioned earlier, if we did nothing with WRs in draft, we may very well be able to field a schidt hot 5 wide set with just the guys we have now. Anquan, Baldwin, Vernon, Vance, Crabs. And patton isn't even on the field. Truly, unless the dream gem, 6'4", 4.3 speed, 48" arms, huge, great hands, smart as heck, good guy...unless he falls to us while we are negotiating trades for a starting CB, I think we take CB...and then another CB. And I think in a very un-Trent like move, we get into top 5-8(whatever it takes to get our shut down starting CB for this yr), and then trade up again for another one(say in 12-18).
Remember trent will have some help here as 4 or 5 teams are going to make monster errors and take Bridgewater, Bortles, Carr, manzel, and who knows who else. Plus Clowney is going to take a team off the board. Getting there (as high as we need to go to get our CB starter), will also be helped by our dangling Gabbert to a team who needs a Qb, and this would be a magnificent way to utilize gabbert to his fullest, while securing us a starting CB. Then we move up again to get our second CB , potential starter next yr, by moving up again to #15-20 territory. And as mentioned before, if along the way that gem WR falls into our lap, so be it. But drafting for depth...IMO...just isn't going to happen this yr. Maybe trent can manufacture a 2015 2nd or 3rd rounder with 4 or 5 of our later picks this yr. Hard to see him use all picks this yr for this yr. But, trent always surprises us, and if hr drafted a first round Center...well, it would be unexpected, but then again, that is trent.

A guy like Chuck Jacobs, who has some talent, and did well in preseason last year with BJ Daniels throwing to him - is going to have an uphill battle even if the 49ers don't draft *any* Wr's this year. I can see Baalke getting the players he wants by trading up, and then when that's done, the rest of our draft will be traded for next years draft picks. I think Baalke needs to preserve our draft capital as long as possible by trading away unneeded draft picks for future draft picks.
