Strange season - offence has been poor but we've been inches away from being 12-1....

Sounds like pure pure homerism doesn't it? We deserved to lose the 2nd game in Seattle, I could argue about having no WR other than Boldin and Vernon injuring his hammy but that would be stretching it, I think we were still not coming away with a win that time, but let's look at the other three losses: 2nd Loss vs Colts - Close game until the 4th quarter. Vernon is out injured, we only have Boldin as an effective WR. However we are gashing them on the run the whole first half, they could not stop us. Then Roman has a brain fart and decides the best game plan is to air it out. Had we kept pounding the rock with Gore we would have worn them down. Poor play calling and if I remember there were some very poor calls from the refs on some crippling penalties cost us the game, but that was well within our capacity to win. 3rd Loss vs Carolina: This was on us but again within out grasp. Unfortunately Vernon and Celek go out injured leaving us with one TE and we put Snyder (wtf?) in there rather than move to 1TE sets featuring Vance. 4th and 2 on the goal line just after Vernon was hurt and we don't go for it, not sure I can buy Harbaugh's reasoning that the injury pushed us to a FG. At that point, the way our defence was playing, I think going for it would have been the right call. 4th Loss vs Saints: We were patchy on this one offence wise but the D was lights out. Shocking ref's call cost us the game for the foul from Brooks on Brees. No intent, he started the hit low and it slid up as the Brees being a shorter man tried to duck out of it. I think this is one where the refs had an obligation to look at the game situation and abide by the spirit of the rules. People may debate that.... Long and short of it, but for some fine lines, many key injuries, missed opportunities by us, bad ref calling, bad play calling, we could have been sitting here at 12-1. Certainly in the Panthers and Saints games we were in it right to the death, the Colts one was a poor 4th quarter and the game in CLink fell away from us early in the 4th. Moral of the story: despite our struggles 3 of the games we have lost could have been wins and we were still competitive in them. It's a good sign to take forward.

Yea usually you get lucky in one of those games and we didn't. I think Seattle will lose one more on the road this year.

In a way Saettle reminds me of the Falcons last year. Everyone on the bandwagon saying they are so great (seattle is a great team) but they just seem beatable to me.

12-1? We lost both in SEA and at home against Indy convincingly. You can blame the Indy loss on being tired and beaten down from the week before, but neither of those game could be argued any other way.

We did lose a 1 pt. game against CAR that we probably shouldve won had the playcalling not been horrid. And then theres the Saints game that was robbed from us.

Its funny how much doom and gloom has been spread around here this season, considering we are now 3 winnable games away from finishing 12-4. Id say for a team with a 2nd year starting QB, thats a pretty darn good position to be in.

No the Indy loss was a game we were in right into the 4th quarter, in fact we were winning at the end of the third quarter. Gore had something like 80-90 yard sin the first half, cue Roman in the 2nd half where we gave him 4 more carries.... That game was there for us to take. They got 2 short fields, one on an int where we were in a 3rd and long thanks to some ticky tack ref calling if I remember rightly.

Thank God we won!

BUT - it shouldn't have been that close. Our Red Zone performance sucks!

It isn't the D that's holding us back from being a great team.

When we get in the playoffs we'll need to score TD's.

And if we face Peyton - well you get the picture.

To have the record we have now going against the grain is impressive
