Long time STH here and yes, its that bad.

Like others on here have said, pay extra to park in the inside lot. If your looking for the best tailgate experience, you won't be disappointed. Besides, tailgating at the new stadium will be A LOT different so if you really want to do it up right and see Candlestick out with a bang then the main lot is the best place to be! One big happy 49er party.

Actual cost of a legit Parking Pass to main lot = $30.

Parking in the reserve lot (dirt) = $35

Purchasing a Parking Pass from a 2nd party usually = $50 or more. Usually more.

Buy a parking pass. If you don't you're parking in the dirt, and that's where the horror stories come from.

And there's no stores to park at near candlestick. And you definitely don't want to go find one in Hunters Point. lol

I've parked in the dirt lots for 20+ years, well over 100 games...never had any problems, except for some mud on the rare occasions when it rains hard. Last year it was $30 for the games I attended. Parked in stadium main lot for a couple years but didn't like it because too packed, too many a-holes who think that they're entitled to use parking spaces for tailgate, and took way too long to get out after games....outer dirt lot I get out pretty quick, take side streets off Carroll to get onto 3rd, make a right on Bryant and I'm on the bridge. I know some people who have parked for free on the street (Carroll), but much farther walk and to me a lot riskier than the closer-in dirt lots.

So, where exactly do you get the passes on gameday?

at the parking lot gates..you have to get there early like when the gates open

Not always true. Certain games they do not sell at the gate, passes only. Always true whenever we play the Raiders (either pre-season or reg. season) and marquee games.

Correction: This applies to the MAIN parking lot, not the dirt lots.

So when I go to the Texans game, if I get to the main gate 4 hrs before game, I should be able to get in by just paying $30 at the gate?

SHOULD being the word. They normally announce a day before if they would accept early entries.

I imagine in all your years you've figured how to work the system. Are you saying in 20+ years you've never been stuck in the dirt barely moving for an hour or more? I find that sorta hard to believe. If you aren't very close to the exit or by one of the main veins of the exit, you can sit forever and not even move. I've been there a few times. Just listening to knbr after the game you hear people calling in saying they've been trying to get out since the end of the game and haven't moves in hours.

only one explanation...he leaves early
Best seats are Upper Box sections 7-19 (Odd numbered), section 15 is the best!!!

Used to have season tix in section 15 (2007-2010), LOVED IT! All Niner fans who don't sell/give tickets to opposing fans, and no bad drunks (if there are, security really cool near there and will escort them out, so ur kid can have fun). Also, clear view of Jumbotron, Garlic fries right next to section 17, shade around 2:30-3pm, and mens restroom next to section 15 (don't have to walk too far ).

I also had season tix before I got to section 15 in upper reserve 54 (other side of stadium), and I had horrendous experiences there. No view of Jumbotron, sun in your face the entire game, and worst of all most of the visiting fans were there and I got into too many fights. Lots of swearing and lots of food/beer/etc being thrown there, just unpleasant (though, once again, may have changed since I was in that section in 2006)

Tickets around section 15 usually between 64-75 bucks, but dunno how much season tix went up since I left two years ago. Hope this helps

Oh yeah, get the parking pass if u can.

Point taken, but 45 minutes after the game the main lot is empty. The same can not be said about the dirt.
