I am upset, its hard for me to think positive but in time it was a great season and while i am angry at certain players like akers and the entire secondary and aldon smith and i wish someone would boil roman in scalding oil before firing him ,,,, I am proud of the guys

A holding call in the endzone results in a safety. BAL didn't care about being flagged for that since they were going to take a safety anyways.
Why didn't any refs throw a flag? Who cares, the game was over.
Even if they throw a flag the play continues to it's end, the time runs off and is not put back no matter what. End zone holding isn't like a false start that immediately stops play.
It's got nothing to do with the practical impact IMO. It's about integrity. How do they miss/ignore seven holds?
Exactly that's the real point
The league always talks about the integrity of the game
It tells you what we all already know : once the playoffs and certainly the superbowl comes to town the refs call it different.
The refs came out flat, the niners came out flat and the ravens took advantage.
They were opportunistic during the playoffs and it paid off
We're the sorrry looser
we're still at the wrong end of the stick
But hey if we're made of champions stuff we'll go all the way next year
Remember how BW worked with adversity ? Remember after the refs cost us the 1983 season CG at redskins when we came flat in the first half ?
He pumped up the team with the us against the world mojo.
The rest is history
We cannot dwell on this
We know what happened, we're no fools, we've got a long memory and we' ll be prepared
Count on JH for this
Just one thing to say right now :
carpe diem and Goooooooooooooo NINERS !!!!!!!!!!!!

Or the play that once again we get to the line late so we have to take another wasted timeout. It was read option and Kaep would have gotten the edge because the End/Backer bit inside.

It was a great season! I am proud of every player on this team however I am completely embarrased by their performance in the championship game and most certainly the superbowl. I just dont see how anyone can feel proud of watching that cluster fuk of a game. Our offense sucked for an entire half. The defense didn't even get off the plane and our coaches knew all of this and coached the game scared. They looked nervous and confused the entire time and I expected better. My expectation for this team could not have been higher and the team could not have let me down any more than they did. Complete flop in the biggest game of their lives. What a shame.

That is great to say but this team looked flat out awful several times this year---Seattle, Giants, St. Louis games (relative to the opponent) first quarter Atlanta, first half SB--they were not a dominant contender

I don't agree with the talking heads. The job of the officials is to make a call whenever and wherever it is warranted game outcome be damned. Simply put, they didn't do their job.

Didn't you get on Harbaugh for making the QB switch as well?

In the melee, 29 is lucky he did not get flagged and easily could have been ejected. He shoved the Linesman.
2. Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereira
On Jacoby Jones kick return there is no holding on a double team block unless the defender is taken to the ground. He wasn't.
3. Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereira
Reed was not offisde on the try. He moved forward just as the ball was being snapped. Perfectly timed.
4. Didn't even see it happen. No idea.
5. Mike Pereira ‏@MikePereira
Tough play that is real close both ways. Good job not calling anything.
Agree with Sims. There is a quick grab and a pushoff. Not one that is going to be called. Nothing obvious in real time
6. Either way the play is a safety, so better to hold player and waste more time.
If the calls went the other way he'd spin it positively
Agreed. This guy is a clown and always sides with the officials on the field.

Charlie casserly(former member of competition committee) said the same thing. A penalty is a penalty. Their job is not to "let them play". Their job is to enforce the rules. If you or I don't do our jobs, we get canned.

great season.
We failed to win the SB. Were one of the 31 losers.
I cant stand the apologist attitude of "Well at least we had a great season guys. Proud of this team!" All that fluff means nothing.
We had a great shot to win a 6th title, and we blew it. Who knows when we'll be back. I dont see how any Niner fan can be satisfied with this season. Its encouraging the way were progressing, but the end result was the same its been for the last 18 years.
sadly the seasons from 2003-2010 have lowered fans expectations to that of the seahawks or cardinals fan bases. i dont look at 1983, 1987, 1990, 1992 or 1997 as great seasons, i looks at them as failed chances to stack up more rings.

This is exactly how I feel.
I don't think anyone is ok with how things ended. Every 49er fan was deeply hurt that we failed to bring home #6. And I agree there's a lot of blame to go around. That being said, this doesn't mean you can't still be proud of the team. It doesn't mean you can't still be hopeful for the future. I mean what do you want Niner fans to do? Give up on the team, and say to hell with it? Take all their 49ers gear and burn them? We are all upset, but this is the nature of sports. You get hurt when your team loses and you come back the next season and cheer for them like crazy and hope they win. There is nothing else we can do.
In addition, I don't agree with the idea that we are just one of 31 teams. This team made it to within 5 yards of winning the Super Bowl. It is a team that has the respect of all other teams and most analysts. You cannot say we are now equal to the Cleveland Browns because we didn't win the Super Bowl. We have realistic expectations to compete for a championship every year. I also don't buy the notion that it would have been better to lose the NFC Championship Game. We got to watch our team play in the last game of the NFL season. We were the best team in our conference and had a chance to be the best in the NFL. I don't understand the sentiment that it's ok to lose NFC Championship games but completely unacceptable to lose Super Bowls. Who made that rule? They are BOTH unacceptable. I think we are simply clinging to the romantic feeling that we were undefeated in the Super Bowl. But apparently it's ok to be 4-9 in the NFC Championship Game. I really don't get it. This is a good team that has a bright future, and as hurt as I am over this loss, I am not going to stop being hopeful and give up on the team.

i just cant agree with this. tennessee got 1 yard from a super bowl win, years after the fact, does anyone care?
