Great read. It's what I was thinking when I was listening to Greg Cosell this morning talking about how Atlanta actually took away the option from the read option when they played Seattle by keeping their DE in containment on the outside. Well, GB was trying to do the same thing against the Niners, but simply could not. I think it's too simplistic to say that Dom Capers did not know how to scheme against the read option. Capers is a renowned Defensive Coordinator; he would have to be a blithering idiot to not realize that he has to gameplan against the read option. The difference between SF and Seattle (and Cosell did mention it) is that the 49ers will bring a blocker (usually Walker or Miller) to take out the defensive player on the edge. It'll be really interesting how it plays out in Atlanta on Sunday.

LOL!

He'll be s**tting himself when we rush him, and pound him in the ground. Then we'll see just how overrated he is, while the media pumps him up to be some "elite" QB.

looks more like his butthole is bleeding

Yep great point. Not only do we bring another blocker, but our OL was manhandling the Packers' DL all game.

I just hope Atlanta is worrying more about this because Kaep WILL beat them with his arm if they try to take away the run. The great thing about this offense and this quarterback is that when you take one thing away, the offense can beat you differently.

I was a big time Alex supporter, and this isn't to turn this into a QB debate, but that was something that couldn't be said before. If teams shut down Gore, the offense wasn't much of a threat to beat you in the pass.

I just hope Kaep is as calm as he has been in the past. This is a big game for him.

Wish I could have heard Cosell on the radio this morning. Anything else worth mentioning about the NFCCG for those who missed the interview? Predictions fromCosell?

He said he thought the 49ers have a very good chance of winning, didn't think the Atl. safeties were quick enough, and that they were going to have a real hard time getting a pass rush (observation from last game) and because of Abraham being hurt.

Funny how there are a lot of talk about Xs and Ys, but in the end analysis basically said the 49ers Oline demolished the Packers Dline. The Packers knew how to play the option, they were just beaten at the point of attack and were plowed out of position to make a play. Cosell basically said the Falcons use one of the 2 schemes Packers tried on the 9ers against the Seahawks. Falcons' scheme prevented Wilson from getting outside, but 9ers will also bring a blocker to wipe out the edge.

Interesting that he thinks Falcons will throw a lot in this game because they like the match ups on the outside. Big day for Aldon!

Go, Niners, go!
ATL is ranked #8 in terms of pass attempts. That is an average of 38.43 pass attempts per game. As much as they will "try" to run, a team doesn't change its spots. In a game where they were up 20-0, Matt Ryan had 35 attempts.

This team will pass no matter what. Even if they get some good pops from the running game, they will not have the patience to stick with it.

Meant the actual final score. Probably shouldn't have used "spread."

I heard the Niners are traveling to ATL on Friday. So will they be able to get some practice time in on Saturday?
