"he threw for 391 yards on 31 completions.[36] On September 27, 2009, Kolb made his second start in place of McNabb, throwing for 327 yards and two touchdowns in a 34-14 win against the Kansas City Chiefs. Kolb became the first quarterback in NFL history to throw for more than 300 yards in each of his first two career starts. He was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after his efforts against the Chiefs.[37]"

you never give it up... Lol. I say once again Mods Joecool should be banned from the Alex Smith thread and any time he writes Alex smith is should look like *l** Sm*t*

Make it happen

Wouldn't make a difference. He posts about Smith in other threads also. Even when he doesn't mention him directly you know who he's referring to.....

you and the irrelevant 300yd games. ya know what...Alex did something Kolb and Palmer still haven't done.... win a playoff game. look at Kap, he doesn't need 300yd games to win.

Ahhh, but I never said those 300 yard games warranted attention. The sad part of all of this is that there are personnel people on a lot of teams that evaluated for that sole purpose. They saw Kolb put up those stats and saw potential. They saw what he could do if he played well. They haven't been able to see that from Alex Smith.

Alex may be a better QB than Kolb, but while both played for playoff caliber teams, Kolb produced more.

BTW, I could care less about 300 yard games. I'm just pointing out that Kolb showed he could have some HUGE games in the right conditions. "Right Conditions", wasn't that a phrase thrown around here for years? Alex was in the right conditions the past two years yet he still wasn't able to explode for huge production. It may be the system's fault or it may be Alex's fault...but one thing we do know is that Alex is a not a Homerun type of QB.

Either way, we will find out by how much he is coveted.

As for Kaep, dude accounted for 400+ yards vs GB. That's producing, big time.

9ers better do whats best for the organization, and NOT whats best for Alex. if that means he sits on the bench til some team gets desperate, than so be it.

Alex is 100x better then Kolb and Kolb has never been the starter for a playoff caliber team.
Tolzien will be third string next year -- we will draft an athletic late-round QB that can run the offense

2009. My point is that he excelled when he was under the "right conditions". I'm just saying, Alex has not shown he can blow a game away if the run game isn't working. He has nearly always struggled when the run game starts out struggling.

Also, the Kolb/Cassell/Flynn mistakes may hurt Alex even more since GM's may think they don't want to learn that lesson again. QB's coming from powerful teams don't always play as well on a weaker team. And Alex never really dominated while on that powerful team.

We will be lucky to get a 2nd rounder. He is not considered a Franchise QB. He is considered a placeholder QB.

I highly doubt so.

Kolb (7 starts in 4 seasons in Phi) and Flynn (2 starts in 4 sesons in GB) are not even comparable to Smith (75 starts in 7 seasons + a playoff win)
Kolb?!!! Seriously? I remember a number of people wanting him here. Hard to believe some posters would, with what we know know, prefer him to Smith.

No accounting for some folks.

Trust me, no one wants Kolb. QB's K, F, and C who shined in their few chances on powerful teams compared to QB A who played highly efficient on a powerful team but never really dominated and played average to below average on bad teams.

There is no potential there whereas K, F, and C showed some major potential. Of course, that potential didn't pan out but at least there was a chance.

True and Smith's best option might be to be a backup for a couple of million (!), exit on a high note as a beloved 49er and then morph into a coach, team ambassador, talking head...healthy, young and rich.

The alternative is to pridefully think he can be the savior for some mediocre team, get sacked a million times, concussed, booed by fans who want the young backup...

Yeah, isn't that hilarious. Kolb . Smith is far better than Kolb, and it's really not even close. How some people think that they're on the same level or Kolb is even better, baffles me.

Having said that, I hope that we trade Alex Smith to the Jets and get Revis (on a one year deal) in exchange. He'd definitely play a hell of a lot better than Sanchez . And I'd like to see Alex Smith whoop Tom Brady's ass twice a year
Smith will be one of the better FA qb out there next year. A qb that can throw the ball to the play makers on offense without fcking it up or go retard and give up the game with a turn over. That's what most teams that needed a qb are struggling with from their current qb. Give him good receivers that can get open and Smith will very likely gives you more than just safe management.

I'm thinking Jacksonville may be one of those teams.
