Without trying to parrot the concerns everybody has made so far, here are some that really have stood out so far.

Issues on defense

J Smith although looking good has not been great this year. Maybe he has hit a bit of a wall and is slowing down just a tad? Not saying he is now a crap player but at he isn't going at 150mph. At some point this was going to happen and he's not looking like he did last year. Aldon looks tired and is not creating the same pressure like last year. The lack of a 3rd option off the bench is hurting the D because we have 0 rotation. I don't get the Haggins and Bakhtiari signing if we aren't actually going to use them...we are running are guys empty. I know Aldon needs to step up to become a 3 down player but sometimes guys need rest. If these guys aren't good enough to step onto the field in reserve duty they shouldn't be on the roster.

Where is the defensive pressure, where is that mean unit from last year? McDonald has not done anything of note so far and has been very meh as well. The "amazing" front 7 is looking very ordinary and this has been an issue since week 1. I cant imagine we regressed that much from lat year and I know teams couldn't of figured us out that fast. Something is a miss and needs to be corrected ASAP. And for gods sake can we please cover the TE's!!

Issues on offense

Moss has been a decoy that hasn't offered really anything like I initially expected. At this point I don't see any reason why he should be starting or even active. This stupid idea that we all talk about how we don't have a #1 because we use a rotation is looking dumb. Crabs doesn't need to come off the field for any other player, he is showing up every week. We need to figure out who the 2nd and 3rd guy are, play them, and do it fast. This mickey mouse crap isn't letting guys get into a rhythm and exploit the defense, we are going hot and cold and its starting to show. Like the thread I started prior...we have 0 big play ability. Nobody is dangerous outside of Vernon going deep on an occasional wheel route. Its time to activate James and Jenkins and create some kind of spark to move the damn ball. We lacked the speed and threat of scoring last year and supposedly fixed that in the draft....yet they don't play...doesn't sound like anything has been fixed. Why draft all these kids to sit the bench? Because we are deep...deep with ho hum talent? This is not a roster overloaded with skill position players who are all great or even very good.

Leonard Davis has been bad when he has been called to play. We got an old fat guy who has been a liability in the first 3 weeks. Why not try Kilgore or maybe Looney for gods sake.

Right now I cant see Ginn or Jacobs creating this great mismatch that we keep expecting. 3rd and short isn't killing this team and neither is ST returns.

Issues with coaching

For gods sake can we go vertical and stretch the field. Throwing 7 yard passes isn't going to win a game when the defense buckles down. Yes, Alex threw a pick, saving the streak is now gone so call the plays. Use the speed we drafted to move defenders where you want them. We aren't the loaded at WR or RB to keep these kids sitting on the bench. Gore, Crabs, and Ham have shown they deserve PT.....everybody else looks pedestrian.

Good job so far for KW....making Ginn look expendable!!

Overall today was a clusterf**k and all 3 phases looked like garbage. Next week is a MUST WIN game. And if players come out flat again its time to make some roster changes immediately. We are now chasing a team that has no business being in #1st place and don't fool yourselves.....betting on a wild card wont work this year for us. And please stop saying you want the West to be difficult an competitive...like last year people wanted a sloppy field for the payoff game and it bit us in the ass.

I called it in the per season I don't think Moss has much left he can't run by anybody now days.

I agree the defense needs more rotations in the d line.

As far as throwing deeper that's probably not gonna happen cuz Alex has one of weaker arms in the league.
I would like to add that Staley has been beaten constantly the first three weeks. I wonder if/when the coaching will switch A. Davis to left tackle and put Staley at right tackle

Alex can throw the ball 35 yards easily.....why the plays aren't being called is the bigger question right now.

That's a good question I've been disappointed in Romans play selection. But then again we don't if its be called but he's just checking too quickly.

I agree on the defensive pressure. As I as I said in another thread, I think making Aldon an every down player could/is hurting the defense. Aldon was fresh on passing downs last year and they were able to create consistant pressure. This year it just hasn't been consistant and plays are being made down field against the defense. Showed against GB, Det, and today against the Vikings. We give the GB's too much time to find Cobb, Megatron, and Harvin who all 3 converted critical downs.

If our offense was able to score points at will, then I wouldn't be so worried but it looks like we're going to have to rely on the defense again this year unless the offense can step up, as its suppose to in 2012.

I didnt see many plays called that were deep today...even the bread and butter Alex to Vernon plays weren't really utilized. Still waiting for Moss to go deep....to clear out the safety's.
Yeah lose to the Vikings...

/season

....change up the roster and start the rooks.

Jreff the voice of logic.

Our D-Line needs to be as deep and/or reliable as the Giants or even the Saints. Having only 3 players who play the whole game is cool and all but if we can have 1 or even 2 more players who come in and spell Justin or Ray Mac then we'd be getting a ton more pressure.

Overall rotation all the front seven needs to happen, or we'll end up getting gassed and run down.

Then I voiced a similar opinion in an other thread that it could be because Moss doesn't have it in him anymore or because our play calling has been atrocious but I haven't seen Moss run anything close to a go-route after that pre-season game where Alex checked down to VD, not seeing Moss wide open and that was in the preseason. While I am still inclined to give Moss the benefit of doubt I do wonder what the deal is, however I do wonder why we say we have all of this explosiveness added yet we haven't even let an ounce of it touch the field yet.

That being said I want to know why we are still coaching conservative ball and not dialing it up? Are we hiding weaknesses? Either in Alex, Moss, the OL? Or what? At what point do we make the change and start opening it up

And to end it GO KYLE MOTHERF**KING WILLIAMS! Showing us all why he deserves to be on this team, he was doing everything he could to put us in the position to win and the offense/coaches squandered his great plays.

Earlier you mentioned that Roman's play selection was limited because of Smith's limitations.

You know people make mistakes that are entirely unrelated to Alex Smith, right? One of my kids knocked over a glass of juice today and it spilled everywhere and it was in no way shape or form linked to any of Smith's shortcomings, real or imagined.

I mean, the way you've got it set up in the end we'll never really know if everything else went perfectly but somehow darn Alex found a way to screw it up.

Then why does he still get a huge cushion on the outside? DB's still respect that speed.

I have no issue benching Dixon and starting James and benching Moss and starting Jenkins....if Moss is a 10 play decoy we get do better with a rookie
Fellas you're overreacting, and the reason I say that is because if all that were true, we wouldn't have beaten Detroit and GB in GB to start the year (and not just beat, but dominated). Though I do think Haralson's injury is pretty big

Plus, has the thought ever crossed your mind that the reason LMJ and Jenkins haven't stepped on the field yet is because they're not ready? Are we really at the point, because of one loss, of not trusting what Harbaugh/Roman's eyeballs have been telling them on the practice field? If they're not ready, and LMJ misses a block in pass pro to lead to Alex Smith getting hurt, or Jenkins runs the wrong route leading to a pick-6, then you'd be trashing Harbaugh/Roman for playing rookies that need more developmental time...TRUST OUR COACHES

You know he isn't saying that. He is saying why did we make a point to say we improved the roster but 2 of the 5 people we added to make our roster "more explosive" aren't even playing then what was the point in hyping up the change?
I agree with you on the coaching/playcalling, I really would like to see them stretch the field more often like how other teams do (especially when the game dictates it, like today's). I remember hearing Alex (or was it Harbaugh) say "we want to make them defend the entire field"....well then why aren't they at least stretching it?

Look at offenses like Falcons, Ravens, etc...they are dangerous going deep.... yeah I know they have guys like Juilo Jones and Torry Smith, but why not start using Aj Jenkins as a deep threat??.....not sure if it's more a philosophy or a limitation with this team.
