Obviously those throws were his fault; but the hard core supporters don't care what Smith says. They'll say Smith is just being polite, but it was really Randy's fault for running the wrong route or not trying hard enough.

I thought Smith played a pretty good game actually, considering the scheme was a complete joke with all the designed roll-outs that always hurt us each and every time, each and every year.

Great!! The Jets just won in OT, so they have confidence going home and they are playing well right now.

As I've brought up in the past, our DLine isn't getting to the QB as they were last year. When we don't contain the QB's that run, we get caught with the big plays downfield. How many times did Ponder scramble out of the pocket and hit Harvin downfield or 1st downs? One of those scrambles even resulted in a TD.

I will admit one was far overshot, the other one everyone was saying thats the kind of pass randy can catch, but randy put very little effort into jumping for the ball, they all looked that way today.

I said the second pass was all guess work until we knew what the route should have been. Really did it make sense for Moss to be out of the endzone or in it? Alex says he missed him then that's it. Bad throw then. But don't act like anyone on this board knew if it was a bad pass or not then. I'm still surprised that the route didn't call for the WR to be in the endzone frankly. That's just stupid play design.

blaming soley alex for this game is stupid

Alex Smith never checks his options/reads, always goes for the first guy, and if that guy isn't open he bails out. Alex is as only good as the situation around him, when everything breaks down he breaks down, not a QB who can react in the fire. Alex is still a great QB, but it's f**king obvious now that the D is the reason we f**king win games.

First one was off his finger tips and regardless of what some people say you should not be able to catch every ball that hits your finger tips. That's ridiculous. You can only reach up or out so far. The second was 2 feet over Mosses head. Anyways Alex missed him. Hopefully he won't next time.

Tough loss. We weren't all together bad. Just couldn't make enough plays to overcome the mistakes. Give Vikings the credit for a good game by them. They were more physical. Made the plays, and seemed to play overall faster then our guys. We somewhat contained Peterson, but the CB coverage and pressure up front wasn't the same like the other 2 games. Offense wasted 2 good run back by Kyle Williams. Smith had some time but sometimes couldn't find anything downfield. The defense needed to lean on the offense in this game but the offense couldn't handle it.

I think our guys were surprised at the less than stellar defense, had to play from behind and just couldn't handle it. After the first 2 games, this game is the first time we were playing from behind the whole game. Our guys need to regroup. First adversity of the season. So it will be interesting how then deal with it in the next game agains the Jets. I remember the Giants looked horrible against the Saints at mid season. They look like they weren't going any where, but ended up a SB winner. Step away from the panic button.

I would love to see a regular season game where the offense bails out the defense for once.

Yeah, this whole offense needs to get their sh*t together. Time to step up. They have plenty of playmakers. NO ONE STEPPED UP WHEN THE CHIPS WERE DOWN. Smith missed a few, receivers still dropping critical passes. I think blocking by the line was OK for the most part. Gave Smith time. Smith and the receivers needs to get it together quick. They are getting a little predictable after 2 games. Now they have to show they can do more.
The Vikings were more physical today. Credit them for sticking with the run. They were perfectly content with grinding out 2, 3, 4 yard runs and it payed off. They controlled the clock and the flow of the game from the first snap. Props to Peterson for running as hard as he did. His yards-per-carry don't show it, but he was a beast today. Also credit Ponder for playing a very savvy game.

The 49ers came up short in every crucial moment of the game. We allowed them to score on 4th down first drive of the game. Alex missed Moss for an easy score. We have a field goal blocked. Can't cash in with a TD after K. Williams' huge return. With the game at 17-13, we can't recover Harvin's fumble, Goldson picks up 2 personal fouls, and we allow them to score, putting the game out of reach. Had we come through on any one of these moments, it's a different ball game. We just came up short every time. Minnesota beat us to the punch.

I'm not even gonna comment on the officiating.....

It's not all doom and gloom tho. It's one game. 13 left to go. We have a very solid football team. It just wasn't our day today. I still expect us to kick the Jet's ass next week.

Congrats to the Vikes.

I never blamed Alex solely for this loss. This was a team effort.

im a die hard alex fan as you should know

alex played bad but he wasnt mediocore this game cannot be blamed on alex the defense didnt get off field and didnt make key plays. The coaching staff also got outcoached

not only that but drops sloppy play etc. This team just looked sluggish (maybe its 10am start?) overall we played a bad game and lsot every phase

lets just not soley blame one player for a complete team loss

And what actions are these? Sticking to the WCO and not trying to get of track with deep passes?

because of one game? we were outmatched on offense and defense after we played 2 great games on both sides of the ball
i also disagree with alex is only good as situation is around him. Just because he had 1 bad game doesnt support that arguement. We were sluggish and it was a team loss

What was the point of bringing in Moss and Manningham if you don't plan on using their strengths?
We couldn't get anything on the ground. They effectively made us one dimensional and unfortunately that one dimension is not that great. Blocked field goal, ass load of costly penalties, defense not doing what it does best which is stop the run. They actually used our own formula against us.

It is fine to go 3 and out or just get a field goal when your defense can make stops and hold offenses to field goals. When we don't have the defense to lean on the game plan goes down the toilet. Basically defense is not allowed to have a bad day or they lose which sucks.

Exactly what the Vikings did to us is what we usually do to our opponents.

On top of all that it just seemed like we couldn't catch a break and everything that could go wrong, did. Luck was not on our side.
