I think he's more focused than ever this year, He's not tolerating anything that can be considered a distraction. whether it be the media or small fights on practice field. I cant say I've ever heard of a coach banishing a player to the locker room over a little practice skirmish between two players.

It was probably more a leadership move to help kyle more than anything. It would be understandable if he was trying to hard, or was wound too tight in order to make up for what happened in the giants game. I've already forgiven him, it's no given that we would have won that game, or even the superbowl. What happened, happened. Kyle may be just to tightly wound and needed a chill in the ice tub for a few

Probably having his guys rest up (prevent strain/injury) as they do have the day off before regular season games

what kind of game plan are you trying to hide in preseason? yes the games are important for evaluating players and knocking the rust off, but to go as far as to close practice is kind of odd.

None of our business as far as Jim Harbaugh is concerned

Did he close practice abruptly or is it perceived that this was planned in advance (did players not show up at HQ today?)?

I think the practice was just closed to the media... I know from personal experience that when you are being watched practicing by outsiders you aren't as focused on training, you are almost putting on a show. Some players do it intentionally, others do it subconsciously, some dont give a s**t. But knowing what you do may get reported on a blog changes your approach. Harbaugh is doing this to calm everybody's nerves and reign in a little more control IMO.
A good move I think.
