WHAT? That guy had 100+ tackles for something like seven straight years...

"(Derek Smith)...had no skill really." Unbelievable.

take those stats with a grain of salt doe....remember, this is the mid-00's darks ages Niners we're talking about, when the D more often than not was always on the field trying to hold off the opponent blowing them out, rather than preserving a lead or dominating like nowadays...
Y.A. Tittle, a true master of his craft. Watched him throw 7 touchdowns against the Redskins as a Giant in 1962. The heart breaking playoff loss to the Lions in the 1957 playoff game hurt as much as Williams two fumbles this past season.

I'm not related to Derek Smith, nor do I know him; I can't help but wonder if you are joking.

lemme me break it down barney-style for you:

49ers losing a game during the erikson/nolan years = 49ers D on the field more ('cos the offense SUCKED) = more chances for Derek Smith to have 100+ tackle seasons

(the same thing happens to a decent QB who has to play catch up all the time and pass all over the place due to a sucky D -- his passing stats are inflated)
