John Clayton rank VD as No.5 top tight ends behind, Jason Whitten,Aaron Hernandez,Jimmy Graham & Rob Gronkowski. Fair assessment?

I'd say he's 3 or 4. Behind Gronk, Graham, and maybe Antonio Gates if he's healthy. He's better than Witten and Hernandez though.

So true, just imagine if VD had a real stud QB he would be re-writing the record books.

VD really came on towards the end of the season and in the playoff. But from the beginning of the year he was 'quiet' in the redzone. He's a weapon on this team, but I'm sure the other guys have better numbers. VD provide help in the running game with his blocking too, which some of the other guys may not, and takes away some of his numbers. Physically and ability wise he would be equal if not better then those guys. He has shown he's a force with Smith in the playoff, so this year is going to be awesome to watch the both of them.
