I know it's early but I'm curious as to what everyone thinks our 53 man roster will look like after the draft now.

Offense - 27
QB (4): A. Smith, C. Kaepernick, J. Johnson, S. Tolzien
RB (5): F. Gore, L. James, K. Hunter, B. Jacobs, R. Cartwright
FB (1): B. Miller
WR (5): R. Moss, M. Crabtree, M. Manningham, A. Jenkins, T. Ginn Jr.
TE (3): V. Davis, D. Walker, N. Byham
C (2): J. Goodwinn, J. Slowey
OG (3): M. Iupati, D. Kilgore, J. Looney
OT (4): J. Staley, A. Davis, A. Boone, M. Person

Defense - 23
DE (4) - J. Smith, R. McDonald, W. Tukuafu, D. Dobbs
NT (2) - I. Sopoaga, R. Jean-Francois
OLB (4) - A. Smith, A. Brooks, P. Haralson, D. Fleming
ILB (4) - P. Willis, N. Bowman, L. Grant, T. Gooden
CB (5) - C. Rogers, T. Brown, C. Culliver, T. Brock, P. Cox
S (4) - D. Goldson, D. Whitner, C. Spillman, T. Robinson

Special Teams - 3
K (1) - David Akers
P (1) - Andy Lee
LS (1) - Brian Jennings

Notable Cuts: Anthony Dixon, Ian Williams, Cameron Johnson (PS), Kyle Williams

I think it's a possibility.

I also think we may keep Kyle Williams if Randy Moss doesn't pan out. AJ Jenkins & LaMichael James will essentially take the spots of Kyle Williams & Anthony Dixon though IMO.

We have some nice flexibility with this 53 man roster as well. Kilgore/Persons might be able to play some C if needed. Robinson could get some practice time at CB. And Byham could be our FB/TE.
Where's Ginn? And we won't keep 4 QBs, I can see us dealing Tolzien to a team for 2013 7th rd pick.

I would keep this 53 man

QB- Alex Smith, Josh Johnson, Colin Kaepernick
RB- Frank Gore, Kendall Hunter, LaMichael James and Rock Cartwright
FB- Bruce Miller
WR- Michael Crabtree, Randy Moss, Mario Manningham, Ted Ginn Jr. and A.J. Jenkins
TE- Vernon Davis, Delanie Walker and Nate Byham
C- Jonathan Goodwin and Jason Slowey
OG- Mike Iupati, Daniel Kilgore, Joe Looney and Mike Person
OT- Joe Staley, Anthony Davis and Alex Boone

DE- Justin Smith, Ray McDonald, Will Tukuafu and Demarcus Dobbs
NT- Isaac Sopoaga and Ricky Jean Francois
OLB- Aldon Smith, Ahmad Brooks, Parys Haralson, Darius Fleming and Cam Johnson
ILB- Patrick Willis, NaVorro Bowman, Larry Grant and Tavares Gooden
CB- Carlos Rogers, Tarell Brown, Chris Culliver, Perrish Cox and Tramaine Brock
S- Dashon Goldson, Donte Whitner, C.J. Spillman, Trenton Robinson and Colin Jones

K- David Akers
P- Andy Lee
LS- Brian Jennings

Notable Cuts- Kyle Williams, Anthony Dixon and Brandon Jacobs

Inactive Gameday- QB Kaepernick, C Slowey, OG Person, DE Dobbs, OLB Johnson, CB Brock and S Robinson

Core ST unit- RB Cartwright, TE Byham, DE Tukuafu, OLB Fleming, ILB Grant, ILB Gooden, CB Cox, S Spillman, S Jones, the last would be a tough call, I would probably go with either Jenkins or Walker, or a OG like Looney

Edit- Forgot Practice Squad, I would keep these 8, WR Owusu, RB Hampton, OG Netter, TE Reuland, C Beeler, S Nelms, DE Masifilo and CB Bademosi

good job ab. I think people do forget about the rock,, special teams and can be a fullback in a pinch. I was thinking either dixon or jacobs would go but AB , of course, gave me something new to think about. forget the four quarterbacks to. williams goes but it has nothing to do with the title game. i take it AB, you do not think we will sign a vet like leonard davis for the offensive line now? you could make a case for six wide outs,, maybe

I noticed that I had missed Ginn and corrected that.

I guess I can see either Tolzien or Jacobs not being there while Colin Jones is on the roster for special teams purposes... but I think it'd be safe to put Cameron Johnson on the practice squad since he was a 7th round pick.

I can see a vet like David or Brown, and 6 WRs is possible if we decide to drop the extra OLB Johnson if he doesn't impress, then I would keep Owusu based on Pre-Season.
No way Jacobs doesn't make this team as the goal line power back. And I can't see Kaepernick inactive on Gamedays, all three will be active.

probably will only have enough for a vet minimum salary in regards to future free agent signings, right?

I can see that Johnson on PS, I hope he makes it, but would be fine with him on PS. I think Jones will make it, it will be hard to keep 4 QBs IMO, but who knows, anything can happen, that's whats great.

Pretty much, if we have any extra cap space, I expect it be kept for emergencies during 2012 season, and towards end we could give some to say Andy Lee, who is a UFA after 2012 and retain him for sure. I also hope Goldson get extended soon, to free up a Million or 2.

If they had any extra money it would be nice to see some go to your backyard deck at your home AB for all the good work you do here

im not deating that i know we need 5 WR

ut 4 QB when it is likely we only use 2 (barring injury) is just wasting a roster spot

we may use 1 for wildcat (rarely) and alex for the rest even if alex gets injured its arare to have 3 injuries to a qb in a season and i dont think tolzien will make any1 53 man roster anyhow so we can keep him on PS

JJ will not beat out CK for the back up job. CK is much more talented than JJ.

I honestly don't even see him making the roster. Tolzien has more upside IMO.
