I'm worried about his durability in the NFL. No doubt the dude has speed and quickness, but he is going to be tackled by fast and beefy men. And please dont compare college to the NFL.

Warrick Dunn 5'9 187lbs. He lasted 12 years in the NFL.
LaMichael James 5'8 194lbs. So being 1 inch shorter he will last half as much. Still... 6years is pretty good.

Interesting. I dont remember Dunn looking skinny. LMJ looks skinny to me. We'll thats definitly a positive.

I think it has a lot to do with how they use him. The most that Dunn had was 286 carries a year. So if they keep James at around 15 carries a game average, he should be just as durable.

Thanks, Diva. Nice to see the comparison in pic form. He and Hunter should be a great combo for years to come. 150 carries a year for both would be great.

Jesus Christ, what is it with you guys that know so much about height/weight and how it relates to STRENGTH and LONGEVITY?!?!?
"He's 10 lbs lighter, so that means he needs to go to the weight room otherwise he won't be that strong"
"Need 6'5 receivers even though the 3 best receivers in 49er history were 6'1-6'3"
BTW, Kendall Hunter is 5'7, 195#....we actually have someone on the roster who is smaller.
And isn't Sproles 5'6? Does he suck?

We are talking about durability, not talent. Also, running styles play a big factor in longevity.

Hasn't a 49er rookie lead the preseason in rushing the last three years?? Coffee,Dixon, hunter??
I wonder if that trend continues wih James. And yes I know preseason doesn't mean anything.

NO WAY DUDE, what are you smoking.....they just signed him for 3 years. Frank will still be the main back in a rotation. I don't think he's going anywhere for awhile.

Not to be a debbie downer but comparing every (49er) top pick to a all pro/HOF player is rather stupid.
Just because player x looks like player y doesn't mean he will play like him at all. Leave the comparisons alone until we actually see him play 1 game in the NFL...or maybe 16 would be wiser.
I mean hell every 6'0 QB that looks like Drew Brees must be Drew Brees right.........?
Let the kid make his own mark and maybe one day people will get compared to him!

Two years left and only if he is healthy.
