True or False? This team is made to succeed WITHOUT an above average QB?

How do you know this?

Please don't bother bringing up a preseason in which a rookie with no offseason played poorly.

You literally have no clue how Kaepernick will play.
We did succeed with good coaching and Smith leading the way. End thread...
I voted no, which is why I think we need Alex back.
Alex Smith 2005-2008 : poor - average QB
Alex Smith 2009- beyond : average to above average 2nd tier cusp QB

bottom line, I think Colin or Tolzien would do fine with Harbaugh and the weapons, but rewarding Alex with the keys again and added weapons, Smith gets the benefit of the doubt that he can ONLY IMPROVE in the 2nd year of the offense that he hasnt had.

not to mention his production has gotten better every year the last few years, and thats what you want from that position. just dont ask skip bayless's opinion

History says the odds of him being successful this year is very small. The odds are that he will throw considerably more INTs than the record low 5 that Smith threw. There MAY BE a give and take with Kaep this year, but one thing is for cetain, Smith threw incompletions and allowed Andy Lee to pin the opponents deep or Akers to kick FG's... he didn't throw picks that put the DEF against the wall. Regardless of what you say about Smith, his ability to take care of the football was HUGE because we had a great ST and DEF... A QB that turns the ball over takes the ST out of the game AND puts the DEF back against the wall.

Draft Overview
Kaepernick has enough physical tools to be viewed as a developmental backup quarterback prospect. Experienced, competitive, productive and durable but very raw in terms of making NFL reads and throws. Will need to become accustomed to making pro-style progressions and must improve overall accuracy. Arm strength is good but needs to tighten up his delivery and work on getting the ball out on time with more consistency. Can make a lot of plays with his feet but will be too confident at times and take unnecessary sacks. Kaepernick will likely attract a team with his measurables and outstanding intangibles. His stock has risen considerably with solid workouts, so expect him to be taken some time in the second to third round.
the FO might disagree with those who voted true
