Dennis Dixon would be the only QB on that list I would want to bring in for competition, CK and Tolzein are probably already better/further along then the rest after 1 year in the playbook. But no we dont need another backup, hell we dont even know what we have in our own backups... two rookie QBs with no offseason, lets wait and see what we got first.

I'd like to get Josh Johnson -- BUT, I wouldn't want him to then be given the job. I'd want an honest competition for all 4 QB's to keep the best 3 -- I think Tolzein has potential to be a real #2.

So if we sign Smith, he's starting without any competition? We need to sign one of those FA QBs unless Harbaugh is confident enough that Kaep can compete.
