Manning V. Smith

I was all for sticking with Alex and making another run at it but after Manning's release by the Colts today I cant help but wonder if the Niners should take a shot at him. After all, its ALL about winning Super Bowls and not necessarily about who you do it with. Is there really a question if a 80% Manning is better or worse than a 100% Smith. In 7 years Smith really has only showed one flash of success. Manning well....do I need to point it out. We're near the top of the NFC now with the defense that we have. Manning has 2-4 years left in his tank. Too me that seems like the same amount of time our defense has before the salary cap strangles us. So my question of debate is this. Do we turn our back on loyalty with Alex and his questionable skills and invest in a somewhat unknown individual who has shown far superior ability for a better shot at adding number 6? I know this has created a rift in me. What about you?
