they mentioned on KNBR the other day that since that 4th SB in 1989 over the Broncos, were 1-5 in the NFC Championship game.

I never thought of it that way, but since the 80's have passed, we really havent been a very clutch team. 1994 was destiny. we were the best team in the NFL by 100 miles. but outside that we just dont get it done like we used to. I have high hopes for this new era under Harbaugh though.

It's the sour side of the success pill. For all the titles Yanks/Lakers won....they lost alot too

I think the team that believes they are going to win always wins the close games. The Giants have a knack for believing that they are going to make it happen.
That throw that Eli made at the end was almost miraculous. It was like throwing a football into a basketball hoop from 40 yards away. The Giants were the Honey Badgers of the playoffs.

I honestly think we would've smoked the Patriots that played last night, and am sad that we let it slip to the Giants. I think that's what the entire team must be thinking now. Hopefully this makes them even hungrier for next season.

I felt that in the Giants game, they didn't have the same intensity that they had in the Saints game. It's like, after they won one playoff game, they (and us fans) were just happy to be there, and weren't super-hungry for the Super Bowl like we should've been. Meanwhile, the Giants, and their veteran team, had their eyes on the prize and won a hard-fought battle with us in Candlestick.

Hope the lesson is learned.

(Major kudos to the Giants though. They played hard. Played well-disciplined football and were focused for the entirety of the playoffs. They deserved that Super Bowl victory.)

That throw and catch at the end of the game was awesome, but in today's pass-happy league, I see throw-and-catches like that made along the sideline on an almost weekly basis. It was just very special though because it came on a game-winning TD drive in the Super Bowl.
