WRs get big contracts , not returners.
He's much more valuable than what we paid him. And I wish we had him for more than a 1 year contract. But it is what it is. So now we have to go forward and try to resign him. Probably for more money and for more years. Lost in all the Goldson, Rogers, Smith talk is this guy. Who is really valuable to this team. You saw how it blew up without him. If he was in that game we are in the Super Bowl.

You have to remember there are lots and lots of PR who wouldn't have done what Kyle did.

I just don't think Kyles play should inflate Ginns contract

Well we found one who won't and has not. Ironically Ginn is great with hands at PR/KR but not as a WR. KW is just the opposite. Good WR hands and horrific return man hands. It's just a different skill. Ginn has value as a high end return man. Which he is. He's easily a top 3 - 5 return man. There aren't many guys in the league better at returns. He's very sure handed (on returns), does not fumble and has elite speed to bring it back. Plus he has excellent vision in the open field. I can't imagine not bringing him back. He's perfect for this team. Powerhouse defense and great special teams. We need him.

im curious to what a top 3-5 return man makes?

I think as a WR he is not a 3rd WR
Well Blizzuntz, ginn is probably a #4 or #5 WR and our #1 money WR is really a #3 or #4, maybe a #5. Hey, we built up our OL like we had to do. Now is time to build up the WR corps. Incidentally, if the kid Kleener(sp??) from here locally was drafted as another TE but has WR speed, I would shed no tears over that. We still need a #1, or #2 or #3 WR...which we currently don't have. ...Oh , and making circus catches in the middle of the season and then disappearing in the playoffs doesn't count as a #1, 2 or 3.

I totally agree with everything you say. I won't lose sleep if we lose Ginn bc he wont take less than $3milion a year.

That's about what we do have to pay him. That's elite return man money. $3 million a year. He's worth that. And I will lose sleep if we lose him. Because that means more of Kyle Williams returning the ball in big games.....

It depends on what we Do if we bypass over paying him. If it leads to Kyle losing more games then yeah you are right. I'm pretty sure we replace Ginn with someone other than Kyle.

I'm ok with $3 million per year for him. I just don't want to pay $5 million and occupy that much cap space. But I don't think $3 million is rediculous for a high end return man and sometimes speed guy on offense.

obviously in hindsight it was a bad move on the team's part but i bet they don't make the same mistake again.

It worked out well for last year.

Finding a better return man than Ginn will not be easy. I think that the team should try to get Ginn to stay a return specialist--and as a emergency receiver.

We need four receivers who are better than Ginn.

Agree
I think we should go after Deshaun Jackson ! he is as good of a returner if not better than Ginn and would be our # 1 receiver giving us one of the best deep threats in the league allowing Crabs to work in the slot as # 2... we would kill 2 birds with one stone ... picture our offense WR# 1 D. Jackson WR#2 M. Crabtree WR#4 J.Morgan TE#1 V.Davis TE#2 D.Walker RB#1 F.Gore RB#2 H. Hunter ... I like Alex but but if we're breaking Field Goal records next year with that Offense than he's gotta go ... Not to mention With some of the QB options gonna be availible ( M. Flynn, Peyton Manning, Maybe even Drew Brees) this season i think Baalke is nuts if he doesn't target one of them

You serious? DJax and Manning? Have they abolished the salary cap and I didnt hear? We have some key players of our own to re-sign. Plus I dont like DJax' attitude.
Pay the man! Do people not remember all the kyle williams clones we had before ginn arrived? The front office made a mistake but I'm hopeful they will fix it.
