First play-off game in 40 years where we didn't have a top ranked offense

49ers put up more points at home than the Saints do on the road.

Not worried.

I do! Our offense has shown abilities to play from behind. Look at Philly, and other games. I think we can put point on the board if need be, in the past we haven't needed to so we haven't. We settled for f.g.'s in the red-zone and also played conservative. We turn those f.g's into t.d's in which we have the last quarter season we will be alright.

A little advice...First off, go find a piece of 2 by 4 about two feet long. Then find a good, stout length of rope and use it to stiffen up that backbone because the Niners defense is going to smear Brees into a black and gold streak in the turf at Candlestick.

Well one thing didn't change. All those other playoff teams had stellar defenses too! Our offense always got the credit but our championship teams featured some NASTY D!

It is so hard to compare past and present. The game has changed so much since the Brodie years. Even from the Montana years the game has changed so much. We dont have that big passing attack that is becoming prevelent in todays game. But how much confidence did you have during the 49er/Cowboy (the catch) game in 1981 season. Probably not much as the Cowboys were always the hurdle the Niners couldnt overcome in past years. Its kind of the same thing this year. I dont think any of us really know what we have till its all done. My confidence level is high - Two touchdown passes from Alex, running touchdown from Gore, running touchdown from Hunter, a special teams touchdown, a defensive touchdown and one Ackers FG. Niners 45 Saints 31. I know everyone tells me how crazy that score is, but I also saw a 11-5 season this year and people told me I was crazy then too!!! I love being crazy and I love being right lol.

Our prolific offense in the 90s only produced one super bowl....The year where we STACKED our defense.

agree, Ask dan marino about that. He was the the god untill he ran into a good defense. the defense in 81 was terrific and we just had a running back by committee. Young2rice is spot on. If you remember our defense in the mid to late 90's got old and slow and the free agent moves like kevin green rod woodson did not work. Do you remember it was so bad we had to resign charles haley

While I agree that there is cause for some concern on the offensive side of the ball, I think that our current team is not really as vulnerable as it may appear at first glance because this year, our special teams and defense are really extensions of our offense. Think about it: we constantly pin teams deep on their side of the field with Andy Lee's phenomenal punting and our tight ST coverage, winning the field position battle. On top of that, our D has a knack for getting turnovers and setting our O up with short fields to work with. That's why we can still win games without a top-ranked offense.

It will be essential for us to win the field position battle and have a +2 or better turnover differential in this coming game to secure a win over the Saints.

If you saw an 11-5 season this year, then you are crazy. No team in the NFL finished with that record.
