Seattle is the team who i think we will be battling with for the next few years. They have a solid defense and a great running game. If they get a legit QB they will be a handful.
the NFC West is definitely getting better. Tough, hard hitting defenses...before too long its going to be a pretty brutal division, I think, if things continue the way they are.

The Cardinals and Seahawks have terrible QBs at this point. And their 2011 mediocrity did them no good in procuring other options.

I still don't understand the love for Patrick Peterson as a CB. He simply was sub par. If teams needed a touchdown, they threw at Patrick Peterson.

Outside of Lynch, I don't see anything on the Seahawks offense that would cause fits. Their defense, like the Cardinals, improved. But we should need to see some semblance of consistency (i.e. over 16 games) before they earn any consistent respect.

Improving from five wins to eight wins is easy. Moving from eight wins to 10 wins is difficult. Stories like that of the 2011 49ers come around very rarely compared to the whole.

They have a lot of work to do.
cardinals are the team to beat imo

seahakws can only run it and wont do as good of a job when p willy and bowman are healthy

rams as you said are in rebuilidingn mode

My initial thought is how your grammar and spelling is spot on. You know, we take these things for granted when the post is correctly presented. Too many times 'accept' isn't used correctly and wanted you to know I appreciate you.

Thank you and good post as well.

Good day sir!

Not to be a homer, but the only reason I'd see us missing the playoffs next season is if Baalke and Harbaugh are submerged into some kind of black hole. -We're losing a slight handful of players to FA (some will be retained, one franchised), but that doesn't mean the ones leaving won't be adequately replaced. -Our offense will enter 2012 with a full training camp this time to iron s**t out (in the same OFFENSIVE SYSTEM, WITH THE SAME 'CORE' personnel/core coaching 'assistants').

-If Baalke & Harbaugh can notice on a film reel that a player like Carlos Rogers is a Pro Bowl caliber player that just needed his eyes examined, that tells you more than you need to know.
AZ - yes their defense is improved. they will get ryan williams back so they'll have a good stable or RBs. I think Skelton is garbage, and i'm srs. Watching some of the throws he made...and i'm not just saying this as a 49er fan, i'm saying this as a football fan...they made me think WTF was he thinking, but when you have Larry Fitzgerald you can get away with making crappy throws. That said, as long as they have Fitz, any small improvement in QB play will make them a better team.

SEA - the seahawks' problem is pretty much at the Qb position, just like the Cards, except they dont have Fitz to make up for it. A big question for them is, will they pay up for Lynch? I think they know that their offense is nothing without him so they will make sure he gets signed. They've got decent, young talent in Tate, Baldwin, they just need a QB.
Their defense is also on the way up. Their secondary is young will only get better and they match up with big receivers well. Browner, Sherman, Chancellor, Thomas, thats a pretty good backfield. I'm actually envious of their talent. They are all big(except Earl Thomas) and physical.

STL - This is a team that was ravaged by injuries. I think i remember reading they have 15 guys on IR. Thats crazy. Parity in the NFL is a reality, and the Rams do have talent, but I think injuries above all else made them a 2-14 team.

The real difference to me between these teams is the coaching. All aspects of the team have to work together, and I think thats why the 49ers are on top this year. The special teams gives the offense short fields, the offense holds onto the ball and scores points(even if its only 3 at a time) to give the defense rest, the defense has been opportunistic and gone after loose balls.

Overall I think the NFC West teams are very similar. Its easier said than done, that all every team needs is a good QB. They all have decent defenses(the rams lost their 1st and 2nd string secondary to injuries), a few play makers on offense, and QBs and Coaches who still need to prove themselves. I think they are starting to find their identities and next year will be even more fun to watch. Competition isnt a bad thing and as a 49er fan, I just hope they rise to the challenge.

They have a lot of work to do.

they all glamor because of his returning, and pretty much everyone wanted Peterson, and he isnt good at CB.

Also Seattle wont be much without a good QB, Jackson wont cut it. Arizona wise, they are screwed, they aren't declining a 7M roster bonus due in march on Kolb a year later. So, they are stuck with Kolb for at least 2012.

Rams, well they have a lot of holes on offense and defense. there WRs are terrible, DBs horrendous.
Good post.

AZ and Seattle both have improving defenses but neither impress me on offense. We also must take into account that we will have another FA, draft and a full off season to improve. So I do agree that our division as a whole will be vastly improved, I see the fabulous 49ers building the nnew dynasty.
bring it.

most division games are boring to me right now, just because the other teams are pathetic (mostly at QB). I want us to be like the NFC East

My main question is why wont jackson cut it? Did you guys read one of our beat writers articles comparing Alex Smith and Jackson in their last 6 weeks or something? the only difference was interceptions. all jackson needs to so is play safer and they had lots of oline and receiver injuries.

Prior to this season Jackson's career QB rating was better than Alex's. I dont know why people think its inconceivable that other QBs other than our own can actually improve. We saw it with Alex. Why cant it happen with TJ? I sure hope it doesnt though, lol
