Man, I'm like bring these b***hes on! Let's make our destiny. Let's take the opportunity and make them ours! Why not! Our team believes and so do I.

Do you?

Each and everyone one of you that posts who are genuine Niners in the soul know. Know very well that this is special know matter what. We have an opportunity in front of us. And like Jack Harbaugh said...

"Attack this day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind."

This voice flows through Jim and our team keeps believing in this. That's why our team will make history. The WILL to want it more!!!!

How's that for something to gnaw on?

Our D can take it to each of these three QBs. Why? Take a look at each OL. That's the key, IMO. One thing this D has is focus, clear and intense when dialed in like the MNF against Pitt. That was magnificent. Who ever comes to our house will meet with that kind of intensity, but kick it up a notch. Each of the three potential opponents have excellent QBs: Ryan, Manning and of course, Mr Record Holder himself, Drew Brees. Can't wait and neither can this front seven. The rest will serve them well. Do you believe that?

Our ST can create opportunity and hope unlike no other. Andy Lee is a sav! His boots nail our opponents backward more than the average by at least 10 - 20 yards while our coverage swarms to contain and drop, violently. Then there's Akers who gives us points where others don't. Never mind the speed with Ginn who will return and place us in great field position. Do you believe that?

Our O, our ridiculed, bashed, no faith, O! Well, they've improved especially at the #1 position since playing Pitt. They've competed against our #1s in the RZ and succeeded in translating it to the field. This week they will hone in even more on RZ while playing the 1s. Remember, practice does make perfect in this case especially with Harbaugh and friends. Those coaches will get this squad ready. Alex has demonstrated with a record setting year for least INTs that he can drive. He can will. He can win. Do you believe?

Finally, the coaches. Their work ethic, passion, and love for the game is evident on how this team plays. They made it happen for them. They "coached" them up and at soooooo many different levels providing the necessary "glue" to bring together a team ready for greatness.

Brees... Rodgers... Brady...

What wonderful prize wall hangings they would be. I don't want it any other way and I'm praying for it. Greatness is earned. No better way to "earn" it than going through those three. History awaits my friends.

The question still remains...Do you believe?

Do you?

After reading this, I want to suit up. Attack this day with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind? This really would be a special run. A return to REAL football teams, that are sound in all areas of the game. We also have several examples in the past of great defenses shutting down high powered offenses/passing attacks.

See the Bills vs. Giants SB 25

Rams vs. Patriots SB 36

Colts vs. Patriots 2003 AFC Championship

Colts vs. Patriots 2004 Divisional Playoff

Patriots vs. Giants SB 42

Interesting note, Bill Belichek was involved in every single one of those games.
I absoutely believe. I also think that we play our best football when people don't think we'll win.
SF vs NO at SF = advantage SF, I think this is the perfect scenario although it would be nice to beat them in their house.
SF vs GB at GB = advantage ?, Gore may be the difference but not sure the SF DBs can keep up with GB receivers on a frozen field...have to slow them down.
SF vs NE no home advantage = Synthetic field? Favors neither QB although some WRs play better on turf...not sure on this one. Anyone?

These would be my choice for testing this team. Great year to be a niner fan!
If our D plays like it did against Pitt, we can go all the way, period. If it plays like it did against the Rams, we're staying home.

My bet is that the home game on the 14th will rival that Pitt game. Can the team keep the mustard up when traveling to GB? That's the million dollar question. If they do, then I believe the NE matchup would highly favor us because of their D. I believe this O will do best against the NE D than any of the other two in NO and GB.

That's why that GB game is so huge! One game at a time though...
if a team knocks off green bay in lambeau in the divisional round and we win our match up, then you know it's our destiny to win.

I believe in having all the good breaks and i have a special feeling about this team.

That's the thing about Belichick. Never underestimate him, and he invented the high powered offense shutdown with the Giants.

He said in a team meeting before that first Bills SB that the defensive game plan was to ALLOW Thurman Thomas to have 100 yards rushing in order to shut down/control the passing. Giants had a very good rushing attack that year and a strong defense so it was clearly the best strategy.

But if you think Alex Smith can't put up big #s just look at what Simms/Hostetler did to us that season....very little. Hostetler beat us with about 150 yards in the NFC Champ game. And they attempted 6 field goals (made 5) that day.

just continue to take care of the ball, limit the big plays, do not give them yards after the catch, do not allow them to run and play our game. Against the cardinals for whatever reason we got away from what we do and lost. we got back to that vs pittsburgh and won. just continue to do the little things well

If we beat the Saints, I wonder what ESPN will say next, but but...Rodgers is different?

We are the most balanced team in the league and in the top 10 in so many all around categories. THAT makes for superbowl winners. Please or please no turnovers.
I don't believe in hokey BS like destiny. You get what you earn in this world.

I do believe the Niners are a sleeper that has a legit shot. I acknowldge they have some tough competition. It won't be destiny, but instead whether or not they man up & out play their opponents. If they lose...well then they are just not good enough yet.

Their Defense has tough competition. Their offense and ST may need to carry the load vs the softer Defenses.

Yup. I deliberately avoided that NFC Championship game and some of the other 49ers vs. Giants playoff battles of the 80s, but they definitely fit the scenario. We have a pretty sound tackling team, so I think the approach the Giants took for Super Bowl 25 would work. In games against the Saints or Packers, I honestly think we would be the underdog. So I like the strategy iof getting after the quarterbacks to hit them as much as possible on every play and physically manhandle the receivers as much as the refeferees will allow to take them out of their rhythm and passing game.
