The Patriots lucked out on Brady. I don't think even Brady realized how good he would become back then. The dude got slumping shoulders. Walking like he has pre-puberty coordination. C'mon man. Even Ken Dorsey look more like a football player.

with that last pick, the Patriots were deciding between Tom Brady and Tim Rattay. They liked both, but picked Brady because he was taller.

So did the Patriots 5 times. They just took a shot in the 6th round. And he turned out better than they expected. If they knew so much would they expose him to the draft and other teams for 5 full rounds? No way! They would pick him in the 1st. They didn't know either. They took a shot late and it worked out.

The niners would have picked either brady over rattay in the 7th. Unfortunately, rattay was the only one available.
