Harris seemed heartbroken when he couldn't make it back from injuries with us
....he tried one last time in training camp, but his body couldn't hold up.

Rogers' age alone puts him above Harris, who I think its safe to say, everyone loved.

I'll take Walt Harris' 06 season over this year for Carlos. Carlos is having a great year but Walt in 06 was the best season for a corner I've ever seen. Imagine if we had a passrush.
I'm still really hapy with Carlos and he's having a great year, though

Crazy thing is they both had better 1 year seasons than Nate Clements ever had with us, as far as cover corners. Nate was great against the run though

Walt Harris had a great year for us, it was really magical..... great addition to our team. Great Pickup by McCloughan. Rogers is also having a great year and I think him and Whitner have helped stabilize the secondary with all of their experience. I really like the way the coaches are allowing the players use their experience to make plays. If they recognize a route then they can go jump it, even if they are wrong and Rogers really is an example of that. I think though Rogers is a better overall corner than Walt Harris, I really hope they resign him.

Fast forward 5 years, its like de ja vu, we pick up Carlos Rogers 30 years of age, never panned out in Washington where he was a first round pick has his BEST season as a pro and totals 44 tackles , 6int and 1 td. I know its a tale of two seasons, but who would you rather take and who helped out the defense the most in their career years..
Don't forget that Walt forced 4 fumbles his first year in addition to everything else. He was our best corner since Sanders.
Carlos Rodgers has been great, too.
I know it's a team game, but just to put it out there, our overall pass defense is FAR better this season than 2006.
lets not forget our pass rush was horrible then, and the talent on defense was pretty bad... That's why I think Harris stood out so much, if im not mistaken, i think he made the probowl that year too
yes he did. 06 we were 7-9, Brandon Moore and keith lewis lead us in tackles.
We had s**t for talent. But 06 saw Gore run for 1695 yards.
I think our o line minus Harris wasn't that bad that year. Larry Allen made a big difference.
We just has absolutely no talent outside of Vernon Davis on offense and...well no one really on defense. Our LBs were Derek Smith and Jeff Ulbrich. Lmao.

Rogers always played well. He always was a difference maker. He simply could never catch the ball...until this year. ;-)
This.
There's really no comparison.
My buddy who is a diehard skins fan told me that if Rogers held onto even half of the INT's that came his way, he'd be a top 5 corner in the league.
He did this year and is a arguably top 5 corner.

Its too bad he wont be a 49er next season.
He'll be looking to get paid huge. The 49ers wont even make an effort to sign him judging by the amount and number of years he's looking for. I have a feeling we're going to take major steps back next year. We'll be lucky if we can retain Dashon for one more season. People already complain about our secondary being a weak area of the team. Wait til next season.

It's up to the front office in the off-season. Baalke has done a good job so far in the last one so there's no reason to believe he will do poorly in the next one. We have the best football situation for both guys so we have a better chance than most to resign these guys. If the contracts are reasonably priced I don't see why they wouldn't want to be here with a top of the NFL defense and a playoff /SB contender.

The big knock on Rogers was his inability to catch the ball. Other than that people said he was great. This year he has been catching the ball! Both had great years, as many have said, and comparing the surrounding players would make Harris' accomplishments seem greater but I love Rogers against the run as well as the pass...and I don't think QB like throwing in his direction...at all!

while the knock on rogers was that he could not catch a ball, he made a habit of at least getting to and knocking the ball down which was something clements could never do so i knew it was a upgrade. In regards to harris vs rogers I just remember many fans and so called experts called them both garbage at the time of the signing
