They hell they would. Sean "the Scab" was a member of the Chicago Bears squad of strikebreaking replacement players (scabs), known as the "Spare Bears", during the 1987 NFL players strike. Harbaugh was with the Bears at the time. Sean crossed a players picket line, and no player striking would forget that. This is far from a non-story; just don't expect either to verbalize it to the media anytime soon.

Basically, Sean wasn't good enough to make an NFL team, so he crossed a picket line in the hope of landing Harbaugh's job. No f'n way cordiality will ever exist between the two.

^^^^THIS^^^^ SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT HES TALKING ABOUT.!! Good Post.

Thanks, Jim.

Really, it shouldn't even NEED a poll. Facts don't need to poll opinions.

I posted something like this earlier in this thread... But Did you find out anything about harbaughs comment on Sean getting paid in cheeseburgers?

Edit: looks like what I heard on the radio was that Payton interview meal was McDonald's cheeseburgers

that's awesome.

whether or not the blitzing was part of all this, i think this past history between the two guys (who are really similar in many ways) makes this game extra interesting. i can't f**king wait.

Insider request...

Starts with IDing RayMac's performance against Sea. in the first game. He says Pete Prisco (don't like him, Niner hater), singled out Ray as a "under-the-radar" player in Sat.'s game. Compares to Rogers and Goldson, too. Notes that Joyner mentions how Brees' "willingness to take chances" could give him problems with both those players. But he mentions Ray as the helper of both by causing pressure.

He also mentions Joyner's article citing that we scored at least 20 pts in every hm game and the Saints usually give up that many on the road. Also, they don't do well in the TO battle, too.

Finished with his interest in a historical reference tying the Saints to other teams that set offensive records. Runs counter to the notion that NO would auto benefit from a wide open game.

this is what i'm interested in. can you paraphrase the numbers/precedent/argument that he makes about this?

I really am suprised and impressed. I knew he got the ball out, but I didn't think he was effective (that much). 8 tds is nearly half his count total for the year....

Interesting stat for sure.

Devil's Advocate: I wonder if this takes into account the effectiveness of the blitz? In other words, the defense may blitz, but if our Oline picks it up it's a non-factor. In theory, this could tell more about the performance of the Oline than Smith.

just cant give him credit can you

Dude, seriously? What's the issue? Is that not a reasonable question? Its not about credit vs. no credit; Its about looking behind the numbers.......why that is funny to you I'm not sure.

Side note: It's this type of mentality (always being on defense/offense about Alex, that causes communication break downs in the discussion). Nothing personal Valrod, but it's true.

I'm banking on the Saints having that one rotten egg game. They can't score 40 for 4 straight games.

they used up all their touchdowns already.

but yeah, i think we'll frustrate them early. the D will be all over them. we're going to shut down their running game. we're going to force long drives, take advantage of mistakes. they will get some points early, but they will have to fight really hard for them. then they'll start forcing things and make mistakes and we'll pull away late.

Yeah, I'm not sure if Alex is getting the ball out any quicker... when the Oline fails to pick it up like they did in AZ or BAL Alex doesnt exactly perform well.

I do think its improved over years past though, especially receivers/quarterback recognizing the hot route.

Their run-game has really come on the last few week and that's allowed them to completely spread defenses out. We are going to make them one-dimensional again and they will perform as they did in the first half of the season...but damn are they scary.
I have had butterflies all week and am not sleeping very good. Jesus this game needs to get here faster. This is better then Christmas!!!

very scary, and the run game is very, very underrated. they have a great committee. I'm pretty confident that we can handle it though, but its important we do. like you say, making them one dimensional is an advantage for us--even if that dimension is one of the best in NFL history. they got to where they are with offensive balance. its a much better offense, more difficult to defend, than Green Bay or New England, overall.
I think there may have been something. But it was more of a fleeting moment than anything serious. Payton may have wanted to get Harbaugh's attention early on (aka welcome to the league).

Also, I think there is a lot of mutual respect between the two coaches. Particularly with how both teams' seasons have gone, either would be an idiot to communicate anything other than complimentary statements.
