Bad weather would not be a valid excuse for them. To win the Super Bowl, you're SUPPOSED to play good football in bad weather conditions. The playoffs are in January. If postseason ball were meant to be played in good weather, they'd do it in July. The only way Brees will ever go deep into the playoffs is with indoor games.

Linebackers, hands down. Linebackers are barely serviceable outside of Vilma. It's essentially him and a collection of situational roleplayers masquerading as starters and backups.
hm i actually thought it was youe d line or CB deoth- then again saints is not a team i watch often and whenever i see them teams just pass against them
Actually they are pretty deep at corner. Greer is very underrated and porter and Robinson are capable starters. They give up alot of passing yards bc they play in alot of blowout games so they give up junk yards at the end of games.
So your saying your run d is inflated
The saints are capable of stopping the run with Rodgers, Franklin and Ellis. Harper does a good job of sneaking into the box and helping out in the run. They've played some good run teams giants, atl, Tennessee, Houston and Carolina. But yeah there was some where the saints jumped in teams and they had to abandon the run. The 2 players on SF O that concerns me are gore and v Davis.
3 of the 4 teams there have running backs that underperformed consistently this year...
jacobs, turner, johnson, and williams (?)...
Forte, MJD, And Peterson. IMO, the saints have enough D to hold that powerhouse SF O to under 20. Gore will get some yards he is a great back. But he is not the best back the saints have faced this year. It not about gore its about if smith can make enough plays with his arm to keep the saints D honest. If you are 1 deminsiinal in this league it is very difficult to move the ball and score points in the red zone. That's probably the reason SF has struggled in the RZ at times.the same d that gave up 27 @ carolina, 31 @ at the worst offense in stl and 26 @ TB. the reason why we have struggled in the rz this yr has to do a lot with the play calling more so than the personnel. the play calling in the rz has been way too conservative during the season but im sure harbaugh and our oc roman have been saving the good stuff for the playoffs
theres going to be plays where we havent seen during regular season, as for the saints hidin plays probally not much sean payton probaly used it all

There were a lot of Saints players who didn't play - or played seriously hurt - in that game. I'd imagine that Harbaugh isn't assuming those two teams are even close to one another, as he shouldn't be.
As for players that keep opposing coordinators up at night... maybe I'm missing something, but I don't recall anyone on the 9ers offense who makes me shake with fear this year. As for Crabtree, it's a very impressive prediction to say that he'll have the best game of his entire career against the Saints. That would sure be something to see.
The 2011 Saints may be a bit better than the 2010 Saints, but the 2011 49ers are WAAAAAAAY better than the 2010 Seahawks.
And Gore, Davis, Crabtree, Staley, and Iupati have all played at a higher level than anyone on the Saints D has. Hell, you can make the argument that Alex Smith has played the position of QB at a higher level than anyone on the Saints D has played their position. He was EASILY a top-10 QB. Will Smith was not a top-10 d-end, Rogers/Franklin were not top-10 d-tackles, Vilma was not a top-10 LB, Porter was not a top-10 corner and Jenkins/Harpers were not top-10 safeties. As for Crabtree, if he can drop a buck 20 on Pat Peterson, he can do so on Tracy Porter.

Carolina is ranked 5th in ppg. SF is 11th. Tampa and St. Louis were early Iin the season. This team has been playing much better as of late. Go check the stats. Don't forget that the worst offense also put up 27 @ rams on that great SF D. So ur saying that the SF D is only 4 points better than the saints D? I'll take that! TB is a divisional game and that was before they collapsed.

We had pulled starters off of the D very early in that game, I wouldn't use that as a measuring stick for anything

I think a lot of teams in the NFL can stop the run but not a lot of their opponents stick with the run when it gets slowed down. Teams abandon it way too fast. We dont so you better be committed to stoppig the run all day because if you dont, we will gash you with 20-yard runs like we did to PHI when we were down by 21.
On a side note, did anyone notice that a little more physical contact that is normally called personal foul is being overlooked in the playoff games? It is like the NBA regular season vs the playoffs. That favors teams like SF, NYG, and BAL. PIT got away with a couple of hits to Tebows head but they lost and it doesnt count because getting Tebowed is on another plane.

Last year Seattle game this years rams game gave nothing to do with sat game. The saints are a much different team today than in either of those 2 games. If i were you i would hope that Willis and co stop drew and co instead of hoping that this myth of not being able to play outdoors and on grass. In 06 Chicago was just a better team than the saints and it was an inexperienced team playing on the road. Last year the saints were down to their 7-8th string running backs but they still put up 38. With no j graham or sproles. The saint lost bc Seattle hit some big plays and won the game it had nothing to do with the weather. Gore and v Davis concern me more than Crabtree. Without turnovers any D will have trouble shutting down the saints O. The saints will not put up 40+ but they can put up 27-31. Will SF be able to match that is the question. I don't think so. The saints have held much better offenses to less than 30. DET 17,28 atl 23,16 giants 24 and Houston only put up 33 when they had all their horses. I would be surprised to see SF score 20 + on the saints.
First of all, Julius Jones playing for Pierre Thomas was not a big deal. Jones played better than Thomas did last year. And you bringing up that you didn't have Sproles would be like me bringing up that the Seahawks didn't have Doug Baldwin or Richard Sherman. And the 2011 49ers D is just a wee bit better than the 2010 Seahawks D. But even if your offense plays as well outdoors on grass as they do in their dome (which statistically, they don't btw), it's the defense that should play much worse - again, Gore is probably licking his chops when he sees that Lynch play on film. You allowed 41 points and over 420 yards to a Seahawks offense that finished 23rd in points scored per game (19.4) and 28th in yards gained per game (297.8 yards per game). You allowed Matt Hasselbeck, who threw 12 touchdown passes all year, to throw for 4. As for the weather conditions, it may not be freezing, but it should be windy, which affects a passing game even more.

Interesting stats you may want to look at...
49ers
65/221 on 3rd = 29.4% (31st)
76/216 on 3rd = 35.2% (11th) allowed on defense
Saints
118/208 on 3rd = 56.7% (1st)
67/202 on 3rd = 33.2% (5th) allowed on defense
49ers
65/221 on 3rd = 29.4% (31st)
76/216 on 3rd = 35.2% (11th) allowed on defense
Saints
118/208 on 3rd = 56.7% (1st)
67/202 on 3rd = 33.2% (5th) allowed on defense

There is no doubt that the saints are not loaded on D. However as a unit the are playing good football. They have givin up 17 and 28 to detriot and they are a waaaaaay better offense than SF. 23 and 16 to atl which is ranked 10 th in ppg, SF is 11th. 24 to NYG which is 8th in ppg.

Thomas >>>> Jones. Thomas is the best screen back in the NFL and one of the most underrated. What do you know? Why are you worried about the 2010 Seahawks against the 2010 Saints. You better be worried about Sproles and not Baldwin.
