Reggie Smith -- bad in coverage?

So I've recently read many posts here about fans here claiming that Reggie Smith is bad in coverage and/or just a bad player. He has hardly seen the field so I'm curious as to how people are claiming this. Also, if Reggie Smith doesn't get hurt in training camp, he would have been our starting FS. It was only after R. Smith got injured that Goldson was signed. Both Maiocco and Barrows commented several times on the great training camp that he was having.

He seems to take bad angles a lot.

Dude takes terrible angles and is a liability on the field. Also I think the coaches saw him in TC and got worried so they signed Goldson and Williams.

Yeah, and Williams' has been light's out.

However, Goldson has been a big surprise, and hope this isn't a, "play hard cause I need a new contract thing".

When did he take terrible angles and how has he gained such a reputation given that he's had such limited playing time during the regular season?

Also, most of the beat writers were heavily praising him during TC before he got hurt:

Sando:
Reggie Smith was having a good camp before suffering a knee injury that will keep him out for at least a couple of weeks.

Barrows:
Smith was shining in training camp before the injury.

Maiocco:
Smith had gotten off to a strong start in 49ers' training camp. He appeared to solidify his starting role through the first seven practices.

Lynch:
Smith intercepted Colin Kaepernick twice in training camp practices last week and has made a good impression.
