Are we in Super Bowl or bust mode?

The oddsmakers have us in the 12/1 range, way behind the Saints (4.5/1) and also NE, GB, BAL. Looks like we won't even be favored against the Saints in our own house.

Anytime the team gets into the playoff, the mentality should be 'SB or bust' . It wouldn't be as disappointing this year because they have more than exceed anyone's expectation. But yeah, SB baby !!!!

The goal is always Super Bowl. If you didn't win it all you came up short.

That being said this season can only be considered a success regardless to how we play in the post season. 6-10 to 13-3. First divisional title since 2002.

yes it is sb or bust. if your a seahawk or cardinal fan and get to the sb and lose, u can play the "oh well the season was a success " card cus they've never experienced anyting like that. this 13 win season wont mean s**t unless we get a title just based off of expectation from the fans, even if its our first return to the dance in a decade

i understand its hard to go from not making the playoffs for forever to making the super bowl (unless you're the rams of 99), and thus i would take solace in the fact that the team genuinely took a leap forward.

however, my concern is that there are some severe flaws w/ the niners that i dont know how they're going to fix in the next year. Thus I would be happy if it seemed like next year we would be ready to make the leap from the playoffs to the super bowl, but I dont see how.
The lack of an elite QB that can truly drive an offense. A.Smith's inaccuracies and lack of football instincts can hold back the niners.
The absolute abysmal red zone td rate.
The inability to defend the deep pass and especially a really good passing game.

IMO, "Super Bowl or Bust" is a mantra usually acquired in the late-offseason (after the draft and FA) by established playoff teams that for the past several seasons have disappointed in the playoffs and thus in FA and draft have loaded up on talent to make a concerted push for a title...

the late-dynasty era Niners ('94-'98) were notorious for this mortgaging the future approach in relying more on bringing in big-name FAs in order to trump Dallas & GB instead of the traditional approach of building through the draft

more recent (though somewhat different) examples might be this season's eagles and jets who both brought in a buncha FAs, but were guilty in self-placing the target squarely on their backs with foolish team nicknames and bluster about making the Super Bowl when a season still had to be played

in closing "Super Bowl or Bust" really can't apply to the 49ers this season (since NO one expected them to be this successful this year) nor to their imminent playoff run since almost the entire team (and coaching staff) will be making their playoff debut....
