well you can actually own the packers... 49ers arent publicly traded... you can photoshop one I suppose.
The Green Bay Packers are the only team in professional sports that will allow you and I to own a share. They will never move because they are owned by the residents of Green Bay.

To answer your question, the Niners have never and will never offer stock to its fans. If they did, I'd be all over it just to put up on my wall.

No it hasnt. The Packers are the only publicly owned team. Which doesnt mean anything really. It is just a worthless piece of paper that runs about $250 or more.

I wouldn't go that far. Its not worthless. Its worth $250 because it can be sold for that amount. Over the years, it will appreciate and you could sell it for what 1 share of stock would be worth then. Its as valueable as any other share of stock.

You sure about that ?

MoneyWatch) COMMENTARY The undefeated Green Bay Packers have scored another victory with their stock sale even though, as an investment, it's a lousy buy.

Yesterday the team put up 250,000 shares for sale at $250 each and got 1,600 orders in the first 11 minutes. Pretty impressive considering it pays no dividends, the value doesn't increase and it has no resale value. So it's kind of like Greek treasury bonds.

I live about 30 miles from Green Bay and the majority of people who have bought them, have them hanging in their home bar to look at while they drink.
I heard somebody talking on the radio about how, if you are one of these packers shareholders, you must abide by the NFL owners rules of conduct. Therefore, along with a bunch of other rules, you are not allowed to publicly criticize the NFL. You can technically be sued by the NFL for breaking said rules.
The Green Bay Packers don't have an official owner, they are a publicly traded corporation. This means the Packers won't and virtually can't leave Green Bay. Whereas the other 31 teams have actual owners and are not publicly traded. It would be cool to be able to buy a stock of the 49ers, I mean that way when I reference them as We,or my team or whatever, I could actually be telling the truth since I would own a small part of the company.!!!
Eff the packers and all their owners

Can't bet on games either.
If the Niners had stock, I'd short sell it
It's not worth any $ once you buy it. I have a friend that's had a share for about 10 years. The only real benefit is that it does allow you to vote on the board of trustees that run the organization
